Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Wow - 56 miles for the week will be a great total! We will miss you tomorrow.

From Kathie on Fri, Jan 30, 2009 at 13:48:35

Date night again do you go out every Friday? We have game night almost every Friday tonight it is at our house so I had better get cleaning!

From Rachel on Fri, Jan 30, 2009 at 13:53:39

Smooth - Great recovery! I'll exceed 40 this week and I'm only used to 30 or less so I took today off and just did resistance and spinning. Recovery days are great and help me look forward to a long Saturday run. Have fun at date night tonight! Eat something extra for me, you're going a lot further than I am tomorrow :)

Maurine,

I will miss you and Les too. But I am excited to see you AFTER our runs. I am sure I will get to join your gals sometime in Feb.

Kathie,

We try. Larry is gone almost every night. We usually "dovetail" our date nights to some stuff he has to go to, like wedding receptions, community charity events. Tonight's a school event. Game night sounds fun. Except I would not want to clean house for it. Have fun tonight.

Way to go Smooth...Have fun on your long run tomorrow and have a great time tonight. You deserve it.

From Rhett on Fri, Jan 30, 2009 at 15:08:27

Cool, Chinese New Year Celebration sounds fun. What do you do to celebrate? Any Dragon Trains or anything? Have a blast. I'll be at my son's basketball game.

From Smooth on Fri, Jan 30, 2009 at 15:15:59

Rachel,

Very smart to xtrain with resistance on your rest day before your long run. You are doing awesome. WOW 40+ miles week already, you are SO ready for Ogden.

Dale,

Thanks. Running long and solo isn't my idea of fun. But I love running and I will make it fun.

Rhett,

There will be dragon dance, lions dance, kingfu demonstration at the show. My children receive laysee (aka lucky money inside red envolopes). Then, of course lotsa lotsa Chinese food. Good thing I'm going for a long run in the morning. Have fun at the basketball game. I love my son's jr. jazz game. His games are on Sat mornings (which I usually miss, stinks) and Tue nights.

Great job getting some easy/recovery miles in. Great week!

Ever since I read your blog yesterday I've been CRAVING good Chineese food like a fool! I almost stoped to get some fried rice and egg rolls on my way home from the run this morning! Got any good leftovers? I hope it was as good as I'm imagining it to be for you!
