Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Oh sorry for your tummy issues, but your running miles are making me very jealous.

From calliej on Tue, Jul 20, 2010 at 12:52:00 from 97.126.129.134

I hate tummy problems!! I ALWAYS have them!! Sorry you'er so tired. Go to bed early tonight. :)

From catherine on Tue, Jul 20, 2010 at 13:14:03 from 67.169.248.86

I hate tummy issues too. I wish I knew how to stop them! Good job on the miles.

From Smooth on Tue, Jul 20, 2010 at 13:18:39 from 174.23.244.221

Thanks girls for the tummy empathy! :) I've been dealing with it more frequently lately...must be all the yummy salads...oh, the joy of summer! :)

From auntieem on Tue, Jul 20, 2010 at 13:37:53 from 24.18.77.246

Some days are like that. Sorry. Awesome miles!

From AmberG on Tue, Jul 20, 2010 at 17:33:42 from 75.162.144.246

Oh Darlin' I miss you!!! I have been completely out of the blog-loop! I'm sorry about your run this morning, the heat is killer! Are you contemplating running Des News? Hope your life is going good, I miss your bright little spot of sunshine in my life! :). . .

From RivertonPaul on Tue, Jul 20, 2010 at 20:55:36 from 97.184.49.99

Perhaps it was Rumbis finally processing through the system.

From Maynard on Tue, Jul 20, 2010 at 21:51:32 from 71.213.44.189

What races have you got coming up? Is Park City your next big race?

Good work on toughing it through 14 difficult miles. I'm moved.

From Teena Marie on Tue, Jul 20, 2010 at 22:44:36 from 174.52.45.85

How were your pears??

You know that I think everything about you is amazing!

Sorry about the squawking ITB.

Love you!

From Smooth on Tue, Jul 20, 2010 at 22:51:40 from 174.23.218.43

Maynard ~ Yep, PCM. any chance you'd be running it? I sure could use your company!

SSF ~ My pears are not ready to be picked yet!?!

LOVE you too. Hey if the logistic doesn't work out. We can go with your plan! Larry thinks I am out of my mind. I'll bet Lowell totally approves! :)

From Teena Marie on Tue, Jul 20, 2010 at 22:56:09 from 174.52.45.85

Then let's get Lowell down here! Stink ... he is racing in Poky, huh? DANG!!!

We'll make the logistics work.

Vuyk is going to talk to his sweet spouse tonight. I should know in the morning if he can come. If he can, I say we do it! :)

From Smooth on Tue, Jul 20, 2010 at 22:59:46 from 174.23.218.43

SSF ~ I'm so excited! Can't wait!

From Teena Marie on Tue, Jul 20, 2010 at 23:02:16 from 174.52.45.85

I'm excited too!!! :)

Ry also thinks we are out of our minds!

From RAD on Tue, Jul 20, 2010 at 23:07:11 from 67.172.229.125

All right...so what are you two planning? Obviously something crazy if Lowell would approve! :)

Nice work on those miles Smooth! Way to add the resistance in the evening.

From Kelli on Tue, Jul 20, 2010 at 23:37:12 from 71.219.99.30

I am so laughing at your post----everything felt tight but the GI! I had to think about that. Too funny, but not really so funny when you are running!!!

From Andy on Wed, Jul 21, 2010 at 09:40:47 from 198.60.114.178

Please tell us what you are planning. IF both Ryan and Larry think that it is a bad idea then it probably is.

From flatlander on Wed, Jul 21, 2010 at 11:41:39 from 198.207.244.102

That many miles at that pace in the heat certainly leaves me fatigued. Very good run, you are doing fine.

From Doone on Wed, Jul 21, 2010 at 14:10:29 from 184.10.154.170

I so wish I would have time to call and visit with you while in Utah. The kids and I were just both ready to get home. Sorry about the GI issues. The longer I run in this heat the more issues I keep having as well. Thank heavens for knowing where all the bathrooms are on a run.

So what is the deseret news race and when is it? I am out of the loop on all the Utah races.

Tell President Smooth I said HI!!

You are so great!

From Smooth on Wed, Jul 21, 2010 at 17:42:11 from 174.23.218.43

Amber cutie! ~ You've been soooo busy! Thanks for checking in.

What a great race you had at Bryce...as always!

I WAS considering DNews as a L-O-N-G training run. After testing out the legs on the Suncrest downhills and dogging it in the heat to assimilate the last 6 miles; I decided DNews would be a bad idea.

Paul ~ You're too funny! I AM a DUMBO and run like one too! :)

Rachel ~ I'm always dreaming up some crazy idea...hope it doesn't get me in trouble! :)

Kelli ~ I was just glad that I made it to the thrown in time,,,all three times,,,eeek!!! :)

Andy ~ You're just like Ryan and Larry...where's your adventurism!?! Will let you know if it was a bad idea! Teena's waiting to hear back from a potential body guard. :)

Flat ~ Thanks for the encouragement. I think I need to take care of the little things like sleep, eat, hydrate, and just accept that it's gonna be slower pace in the heat!

Doone ~ I so wish I could have talked to you or arranged to run with you while you were in Utah.

Larry says HI.

Deseret News is this coming Sat. traditionally a Pioneer Day (July 24) event. There's a marathon and a 10K. Lotsa fast folks run the 10K. The marathon course is brutal and not as good a support as other Utah marathons.

From Kelli on Wed, Jul 21, 2010 at 21:38:57 from 71.219.99.30

Wow, now I am curious what you two crazy ladies are up to that will require a bodyguard!

From RivertonPaul on Thu, Jul 22, 2010 at 10:47:59 from 67.42.27.114

Smooth, I meant to type Rumbis, but my auto spell corrector changed it to Dumbo. (It was a lame reference anyway, but you are not a Dumbo, far from it -- you are incredible.)

From Smooth on Thu, Jul 22, 2010 at 14:19:08 from 174.23.218.43

Kelli ~ yep, it's gonna be crazy fun!

Paul ~ It felt like Dumbo was trying to *rumble* thru! I think it was Cafe Rio though!

From Huans32 on Thu, Jul 22, 2010 at 14:35:30 from 138.64.8.52

So what did you 2 decide on?? Sat night or you still set on Fri?? Let me know what you guys decide.:)

From Smooth on Thu, Jul 22, 2010 at 14:43:15 from 174.23.218.43

Mark ~ Friday.

Sat would be too tiring for us after spending all day out in the sun with family and Pioneer Day activity, not to mention I want to go cheer Gary, Allie and Jeff in at DNews.

GOOD LUCK on Sat. Hope I get to see you and Kristi.

From Huans32 on Thu, Jul 22, 2010 at 14:46:34 from 138.64.8.52

K sounds great. Sorry it didn't work out for us to do it. Sure was a nice night last night as I was driving through PC.
