Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Another beautiful day running with friends.  We took a new route running south down 3rd West, turned east thru the Woods to the cemetery where Carolyn and Wendy turned back (they wanted 5).  Karen and I continued east to Cedar Hollow then north up on 1200 E, then turned east thru the CH7 neighborhood to Freedom Elementary where we got a drink.  Turned north on 4800W to SR92 where we turned west to head back home.  Ran Karen home for her 9 miles.  Ran my last mile home solo at mp.  It was a nice route with some good rolling hills.

Potluck lunch at Wendy's house, good friends, good food! :) :) :)

Shopping at Ikea mid afternoon.  One stop shopping for toys, games, stuff animals to take to my TX grandkids, and a nice chair for my new bathroom.  This is the first time we've ever shopped at Ikea.  We ate dinner there, had yummy white fish, carrots and mashed potato for 4 bucks.  Did you know kids eat free on Tue.?  Wish I knew that when my grandkids were here! :)

Yoga and movie tonight. :)

excellent running this week, smooth. and a fun day ahead!

From Rhett on Tue, Jan 31, 2012 at 18:13:47 from 170.215.58.122

Sounds like a great day: a run with fiends, lunch with friends, and I'm assuming the movie with your sweetie... although I can't imagine Larry doing yoga.

From Teena Marie on Tue, Jan 31, 2012 at 19:06:28 from 75.162.92.164

SO MUCH FUN!!!! :) :) :)

From RAD on Tue, Jan 31, 2012 at 23:19:56 from 98.202.23.178

Oh, I am SO kicking myself! Guess who had plans to go to ikea this afternoon, but never made it! Man, if I would've know you were there I probably would've gotten my stuff done earlier :)

Sounds like a wonderfully perfect day! Can't wait to run with you when you get back from TX, yup...I said it! :)

From Smooth on Tue, Jan 31, 2012 at 23:54:07 from 75.162.95.99

allie ~ I was thinking about you when we were driving to Ikea this afternoon! :)

Rhett ~ I tried to get Larry to do yoga with me once. He hated it! :) Yes, we are watching movie together...I have to be doing something or else I end up eating too much munchies. His retirement has been hazardous to my health! Hehe! :)

SSF ~ Wish you were with me! L&MY! :)

RAD ~ O Man, I was thinking about you and your kids while Larry and I were eating there... that it'd be so fun to bring your kids and eat for free...may be I should borrow one of your kids one of these Tuesdays. Hehe! :)

YES!!! you better run with me when I get back from TX!!! We need to celebrate your birthday! :)

From Maynard on Wed, Feb 01, 2012 at 00:24:05 from 71.213.12.61

Potluck post run? Does this happen often? I need to start running with real people more often, that much is clear!

I do have working electrical outlets in my house again. A few anyways.

From Smooth on Wed, Feb 01, 2012 at 00:33:21 from 75.162.95.99

Bradley ~ post run potluck is da bomb!:) Yep, running with real people is the way to go! :):):)

You didn't have electrical outlets?!!! Man alive!!! How in the world did you function? Glad you have a few working ones now! When I get back from Texas, we are going to have a group run and you'd better come! :)

Oh, I signed up for the Buffalo 25K tonight, so did Karen...I made her do it! :)

From Maynard on Wed, Feb 01, 2012 at 00:36:37 from 71.213.12.61

That is so cool! (That you and Karen signed up for the Buffalo Run 25k--Jim really puts on a good race!)

I've had electricity throughout the reconstruction--it's just been via electrical cords... If I ever get involved in something like this again, this big and involved, I'm gonna move out until the construction is complete!

From DaleG on Wed, Feb 01, 2012 at 00:37:06 from 152.216.11.5

Another nice run!!!

I saw on Maynard's blog that you signed up for the Buffalo 25k. Now you've got me thinking about signing up.

From RAD on Wed, Feb 01, 2012 at 10:18:44 from 98.202.23.178

Smooth, I was just looking at and reading all this talk about the buffalo run -25K. I think by then I'd be good to do 15 miles! I guess I'd better be, I've signed up to pace the Riverton half the next week :) I want to do this race!!! Can I tag along too??? -just wish I would've gotten this bug last night and saved myself $10!

From Maynard on Wed, Feb 01, 2012 at 12:01:26 from 199.190.170.30

Do it, Rachel!

From RAD on Wed, Feb 01, 2012 at 14:11:35 from 98.202.23.178

I'll do it if you do it Maynard :)

From Maynard on Wed, Feb 01, 2012 at 14:24:19 from 199.190.170.30

I'm already signed up for the 50 miler.

From RAD on Wed, Feb 01, 2012 at 14:53:42 from 98.202.23.178

stink. well, that doesn't help me! overachiever.... :)

From Smooth on Wed, Feb 01, 2012 at 15:47:46 from 75.162.95.99

Rachel ~ Do it!!! I texted Kelli about the difficulty of the course. She was very helpful and encouraging. Figured I'd run it for hill training, the trail is gentler on the joints. I was debating about the 50K but wise up or wimp out. Anyhoo, I think you'll have fun and do great. You can always hang with me and Karen if you don't feel like racing it! :) :) :)

I'm also thinking about asking Walter if I can be a pacer for Riverton Half. It all depends if I want to race the Half as a tune up for Boston. But I may not be in race shape. All the races in March are supposed to be training runs anyway! :)

From RAD on Wed, Feb 01, 2012 at 15:59:49 from 98.202.23.178

okay, I think I will. Especially if I can just tag along with you. It will be fun and a good challenge to boot. Hey, I may actually like hills by then :)

I think I'll be pacing 1:50-2:00, so you could just run with me and I'll pace you :) hahaha! I'd have too much fun with you around and screw up royally!!!

From Smooth on Wed, Feb 01, 2012 at 16:04:57 from 75.162.95.99

Exactly, you are Queen of the hills and with all that 6% running you're doing...by March you will be KING of uphill running!!! :)

So may be I should ask Walter if I could be your co-pacer, that way I don't have to pay and we both can screw up royally! :) Will be let me do that? :)

From RAD on Wed, Feb 01, 2012 at 16:18:34 from 98.202.23.178

What about if we do 2:00 pacers? We could have a good time and it would be a good push, but not at ALL out of range! Then we can relax a little and share our love with everyone! :)

From RAD on Wed, Feb 01, 2012 at 16:25:55 from 98.202.23.178

Just sent a message to Walter asking for the 2:00 slot - you and I! I'd volunteered for anything 1:50-2:00, so I think we may be able to slip in there. I told him he KNOWS how awesome we'd be together!!! I'll let you know what I hear from him.

From Smooth on Wed, Feb 01, 2012 at 16:26:35 from 75.162.95.99

Sounds good to me!!! :)

From Smooth on Wed, Feb 01, 2012 at 16:30:27 from 75.162.95.99

Hey thanks, Rachel! That saves me having to ask him! :)

From Maynard on Wed, Feb 01, 2012 at 18:48:50 from 199.190.170.30

RAD-got an email from Jim today. He expects the 25k to fill up this week.
