Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Another nice morning, a bit cooler than yesterday, beautiful sunrise.  Wendy and I ran to meet Karen at her house, then east thru Ivory Ridge and onto Canal Trail and back on 3200N, south on 600 E to home.  Ran progressively faster, breathing and heart rate under control.  (10:33, 10:23, 10:13, 9:25, 8:57) AP 10:00  AHR: 153

14.5 weeks since the 2nd stress fracture,  I feel that I still have a long way to go or much work cut out to get back to a 9mm mp.  Sigh!  But I'm okay with that for as long as I can finish the marathons the rest of the year without injury.  Quads were a bit tight.  The Pro KT tape still staying on 4 days later (other than couple spots along the edge and some filaments of thread protruding thru).  :)

My friends said "you're a girl with all As":  Annoying Arthritis, Aggravating Asthma, Asymptomatic A-fib and an A+ Attitude, not to mention a crazy Addiction to running!!!! Hahaha! :) :) :) :) :) :)

Didn't realize you were coming down here to run! I think Wade and I are going to do the half on that day, so maybe I'll see you out there. Good running, very smart the way you are dealing with the stress fractures.

From Smooth on Thu, Aug 30, 2012 at 18:33:46 from 75.165.251.74

Carina ~ miss seeing you cruising around here with your cute smiles too! :)

Flat ~ that course looks pretty boring. I'm doing it because my daughter will be running her first half marathon there AND mainly to spend Christmas with the grandkids! :) Hope to see you then! :)

You're a running machine! What marathon are you thinking of running in March?

From Smooth on Thu, Aug 30, 2012 at 20:09:56 from 75.165.251.74

Dale ~ It's the Phoenix Marathon. Price goes up after Aug 31. I used the discount code provided by UVM for $10 discount. I'm doing it so I can go visit my boy in Phoenix! :)

From DaleG on Thu, Aug 30, 2012 at 21:04:08 from 66.87.65.74

That'll be a fun little trip for you.

From DaleG on Thu, Aug 30, 2012 at 21:05:43 from 66.87.65.74

I really want to run the Huntsville marathon, but I think its only a week before St George. I like that it has a 10:00 am start time and its not far from where I live. I was going to run it if I wasn't selected for St George.
