Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Hubby woke me up bright and early and asked if I wanted to go skiing with the family.  I thought everyone would stay home b/c they were all hacking up a storm.  44 inches of new snow (over the weekend) was very tempting.  But I was too sleepy/tired.  Jeff and Jenn had a photo-shoot which got canceled on Sat b/c of the rain/snow.  So I thought I'd go with them to ski in the afternoon.

After everyone left for Solitude, I decided to go for a run.  Was going to run 5 miles but once I got warmed up the knee felt good to go up on Suncrest Rd.  Since I didn't carry any water or fuel, I ran to Ridgeline Elementary (mile 3), thinking I could get a drink.  Duh, it was closed b/c of President's Day.  So after stretching a bit I decided to run the next few miles at mp.  Ran to Alpine City Park to drink from the *fountain of youth* then kept the pace up on the return.  Felt pretty good throughout the run.  2 days of no running did give me *fresh* legs.  It was a beautiful sunny day, lots of runners out, mostly high school or college age kids.

Hubby said I missed the BEST ski day of the season; but it's all good since Jeff and Jen didn't make it back in time, plus they closed the canyon b/c it was too crowded.  I think my knee would not have been able to take the downhill skiing anyway.

After cooking & feeding the hungry skiers,  I iced the knee (which started to ache) and rolled the quads while we watched a Disney movie Wendy Wu, ridiculously funny no brainer!

What a fun and exhausting 3 day weekend!!

I second what Hubby said. Monday was GREAT at Solitude! I wonder if we saw some of your clan up there? Were any of them skiing with a very young child?

From Smooth on Tue, Feb 22, 2011 at 22:02:03 from 67.2.85.71

fly ~ Yes, my nephew's little boy, Hiro, skiied for the first time yesterday. I think he is 2 y.o. The whole clan was up there. Even my mother-in-law walked by the Moonbeam lodge back and forth to watch her great-grand-kids ski down the slopes!

Did you take your family skiing at Solitude! We love that place...we've been skiing there for the last 16 years!

From fly on the Wall on Wed, Feb 23, 2011 at 18:24:41 from 204.113.19.47

I skied with my two kids and another dad with his son. I think we were in a lift line behind your 2 year old shredder. It was the Link lift, which we took after lunch to get to the other side of the resort.

Sorry. I think I'm guilty of "profiling." But there aren't many Chinese Americans skiing in Utah. It is nearly the opposite of where my family (mother...) is. In Diamond Bar, CA Gwailo (鬼佬?) are the minority. (hmmm I wonder if I used that word correctly? Did that makes any sense? Did I just stick my foot farther into my mouth?)

From Smooth on Wed, Feb 23, 2011 at 18:56:28 from 67.2.85.71

Ah, the Link lift at lunch time must be horrendously slow! Should have skiied down Main St to get to the other side.

Dang! I should've gone skiing; then I would've seen you! Yep, we are not the norm. We put our kids on skis when they're tiny toddlers still wearing diapers! When the whole clan go skiing and to Chuck-a-Rama afterwards, it is seriously like an ASIAN INVASION! :):)

I hear ya on the Gwailo(鬼佬) being the minority in alot of places in CA. My sister lived around Diamond Bar (Walnut) area for a few years...lots of Asians there!

Yes, you used the term correctly, how'd you know that word? My daughter and son married Gwailo's thus my grandchildren are "Hapa's". Do you know that word? It's not a Chinese word! :)
