Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

I LOVE SUNSHINE and BLUE SKY even when it's brrr cold!!!  Laced up my shoes omitting the last two eyelets to give the tibial tendons more wiggle room.  After about couple miles of warm up, I didn't notice the pain as much.  I thought I'd run 11 miles today being the 11th.  I hit the hill first then ran the bench loop keeping it at marathon pace.  The right calf sent out some twitches...could it be the fast twitch muscles waking up?

Took a cold water bath soak while siping warm milk with egg and honey.  The left quad right by the knee (at 4 o'clock) started to ache.  Will do some stretches and massage tonight after the push up challenge.

My sweet 88 year old neighbor brought me some homemade fudge.  Her husband has terminal cancer.  She's not allowed to drive.  Yet here she was walking to my house (about 0.2 mile) all dolled up wearing a fur coat,  gym shoes and sunglasses.  What a special lady!!!  I want to be as graceful as her when I grow up!!!

Let it be known Smooth that you have the best justification for workouts than anyone.

11 miles on the 11th. Brilliant!

I hope you recover quick. Eating lots of homemade fudge will really help.

I love the randomness at which you picked how far you would run today. I'm with jun...eating fudge sounds like great recovery food.

Awesome, Smooth!!! You always brighten my day just by reading your blog. What a nice neighbor you have.

Yum, I want some fudge. I hope that tendon is feeling better.

Hope you rest some before the race. So when you beat me I know you beat me without being injuryed.:) Better for my ego.:)

Hope you have a great race this weekend. And keep that tendon on ice! You must be a good neighbor to have such great neighbors.

Smooth ~ There's no doubt in my mind that you already ARE like your sweet little neighbor, no need to grow up :)

Great run!!! You take care of that foot so we can run again soon! And I wish I had a little old lady to bring me fudge!

Make sure you get your 31 miles in on the 31st...!

From Smooth on Thu, Mar 12, 2009 at 15:59:12 from 71.36.65.79

jun,

Not sure if it's justification. I just looked up my log and realized I ran 11 miles on Feb 11 and 13 miles on Friday the 13th. I won't be repeating that this Fri. though.

Rhett,

Randomness get me in trouble sometimes.

Dale,

I have the best neighbors in the world. There is a new development in my neighborhood, are you interested?

Bec,

I love fudge; but I don't know how to make them. The tendon seems to be getting better. It only hurts at the beginning of a run.

Mark,

You're the last person I ever know that has "an ego". Seriously, I just love your kindness and friendship. I can count on you there cheering me in every time!!!

Maurine,

I rarely ice, I don't know why. It is so easy to love my neighbors, they're the best.

Marion,

These fudge are so good! They have walnuts in them. Walnuts are good for you, right?

Leslie,

Bev is a pretty lady. She has fine features and exquisite taste. Visiting her home is like visiting the art gallery or museum. She is cute and petite.

MissFit,

One thing about my sweet little neighbor that I could never be is her taste in fashion. I mean, wearing fur coat and sunglasses to see Smooth who's most comfortable in T-shirts and sweats.

Kathie,

Welcome home!

Kelli,

Move by me, then I can be the little old lady who bring you store-bought fudge!

Burt,

Yesiree! 3.1 miles on the 31st! :)
