Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Lower legs were tired and achy last night perhaps b/c I didn't wear compression sleeves for the run yesterday plus did a lot of walking in the afternoon w/ VT.  Debated whether to run when Karen and Wendy bailed but Carolyn needed company.

6 sluggish lead leg miles w/ the pleasant company of Carolyn!  We ran the reverse bench loop.  AP: 9:38.  Felt very tired and cut the run short.  She reminded me that I had a similar icky run the few days before Pocatello so no worries about SG.  Hope she's right! :)

6 Pfitz CSE.  Foam roll.  Ouch!

My SSF sacrificed her study time to work on my legs!!!  I am the luckiest girl to have such a dear dear friend to take such super super nice care of me!!! :)  Legs felt soooo much better!  THANK YOU SSF!!!  I owe you big time!!! Hope you were able to get everything done that you needed to attend to!  I LOVE YOU!!!

I have lead legs, too. I guess that is how we are supposed to feel before a marathon.

Smoothie...I've noticed that you feel yucky before just about every marathon. Maybe that's how you're supposed to feel. lol. We all know that come race morning you will feel like you're on top of the world. Can't wait to see you down there.

Smooth my run was very sluggish nonrunner like too. BTW I go my bib number--- which number is luckier---5206 or 5167? Choose your word carefully because I got my number switched to Elite status (5167)since last year I had one. This year I apparently forgot to put down a time prediction so they seeded me according to my time last year (3:11). Elite numbers go to 5199 and are for time predictions 3:10 and under (hee hee, not sure I am there yet). I am not feeling and never have, the least bit Elite. I just wanted to be in that corral to cheer on from the start Melanie and Kim then I am slipping back a bit. I am wayyyyy into numbers. So hopefully its a good one : D

I'm sure you will feel peppy come Sat. morning.

From Nancy on Tue, Sep 28, 2010 at 19:46:24 from 76.27.19.206

Your run sounds just like Rachel's but you went twice as far. I'm sure you'll do great at the SGM.

From Kelli on Tue, Sep 28, 2010 at 22:16:04 from 71.219.65.246

It is always icky this close to the race! Maybe do some little pick ups tomorrow to wake up your legs??? I am not expert, that is just what has been recommended to me (I think by you!!!)

From flatlander on Wed, Sep 29, 2010 at 10:21:46 from 76.31.26.153

Good luck at SGM, I'm sure you'll do great.

Andy ~ Good to know even the GREAT elitist runner like you experience lead legs during race week! Not gonna fret about it then!

Dale ~ LOL you are very observant. Thanks for the encouragement! Are you going to the Cougar's bash?

Julie ~ You too?!! why is that? OK, both numbers are good! 6=lucky 2= easy. so pick your poison. But I have a feeling you never ever take it easy and I am 100% sure that you are rightfully taking your elite place in the elite corral. You will run sub3:10 for real!!!! Hope to see you before the race...and hopefully you won't find me being hauled to the med tent at the finish! :)

From Smooth on Wed, Sep 29, 2010 at 17:32:11 from 67.41.235.104

Rhett, Nancy, Flatlander ~ Thank you for the encouragement! My legs are soooo tired...I am feeling my age!

Kelli ~ Hmmm I might have recommended that! But that is for top notch runners who are in race shape like you. My giddy-ups are zip, nada, nil, zap, boof, none! :). Best of luck to you! I'm so excited for your 3:07 or faster at SG!!!!
