Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

My legs were sore and tight last night from sitting/standing thru the Keith Urban's 3hrs concert.  I think I lost part of my hearing too.  He's awesome with the guitarS and very nice biceps.

Anyway, wasn't going to run today; but the new shoes (which arrived yesterday afternoon) was calling my name.  Need to try them out before running 20 in them on Sat.  So got on the TM, figured I could always abandon the run if the legs protest.

Schedule says to run 1 mi easy 7 mi @ 8:46.  I think my TM is not calibrated right; so I set it at 7mph and 1% incline.  Ran 1st mile warm up with gradual increase from 5-7mph; then 7 miles at 7mph @ 8:34.  TT: 1:10:18.  AP: 8:47.

Legs were fine, strides & breathing were easy, tummy started to growl at mile 5, a small blister showed up on the left pinky-toe.

Will not run tomorrow morning... have to run/mark the course for the Stake YW 5K race in the late afternoon before heading to my boy's football game...looking forward to completing the last long run.  Then it's taper time, YES!

Nice job, Smoothie. Sorry about the blister.

I had no idea you were a fellow "Urbanite" Smoothie, isn't he GREAT! Not too bad on the eyes either (don't tell my hubby ;)

From Smooth on Thu, Sep 10, 2009 at 15:36:52 from 70.56.100.187

Dale ~ I seem to get blister with new shoes lately. No biggy, I'll get rid of it before SGM.

Kristi ~ I have never heard of Keith Urban until last night. I was told it was a country music concert; so I was pleasantly surprised. His band and backup singers were as talented as him. I like the quieter and slower numbers. His other songs were good too; just a bit too loud. Looks like you and Nicole Kidman have the same taste. Yeah, I think he's HOT! (I won't tell your hubs if you don't tell mine.)

Wow, taper time already!!! I am so excited for all of you running SGM. Enjoy the new shoes.

Nice run Smooth, and great pace as well! Your 20 on Saturday will be GREAT, just take care of and get rid of that blister! I may end up coming down there and doing 6 of your first 10-11 with you. I'm still not sure about it...lots going on unfortunately :(

Nice run smooth. I am glad you had a fun time at your concert.

From Bec on Thu, Sep 10, 2009 at 16:35:29 from 67.177.35.60

You? Keith Urban? Biceps? I wonder about you Smooth. I bet Pres. purchased those tickets. Kinda funny imagining you two jamming to Keith. That is like thinking of my parents going to his concert. LOL

There is a YW 5k? That is sooo cool. Can you PLEASE come to the YSA branch and get some of the guys and girls excited about running? That would be SO FUN!!

Enjoy that last 20 miler long run.

From Smooth on Thu, Sep 10, 2009 at 16:45:27 from 70.56.100.187

Bec, I went to the concert cause Pres' Boss was hosting it. I went for the food. No jamming from the Pres. I loved it until I got tired and dozed off around 10Pm. It lasted till 10:30pm. Seriously, all the bankers were sitting with a dull face; and all the wives were standing and boogieing.

We're doing the 5K on the JRP. The girls will all get medals. Doesn't take much to motivate these girls, I tell ya. We have to run fast so we don't miss the Lehi game down in Orem though.

Yes, I look forward to the last 20 miler. It will be FUN!

Good luck on your 20 miler, I hope your shoes work out okay!!

Dang, Smoothie, I was looking for tickets for that concert, but couldn't get any. Oh well.
