Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

:) :) :) :) :) NEW MONTH!!!! NEW SHOES!!!!  NEW RUN!!!!  :) :) :) :) :)

I have been looking forward to this day for the last 43 days!!!!  I finally get to run with my hubby!!!! :)  I put on the brand new Inspire 7 that I purchased last month.  My podiatrist son advised me to go back to the Inspire which has more cushion and stability than the Elixir.  I laced it loosely so it doesn't cause any pressure at the top of the foot and tarsal joints.

Hubby's plan was to run around the block which was perfect for me since I don't know how far my foot would let me go.  I followed the Pfitzinger's Return to Running after Stress Fracture schedule.  I began with 10 min. walking while hubby ran ahead.  He turned around at the corner of 3200N 600E to meet me as I began my 5 min run/5 min walk cycle.  It was as if I had to learn how to run all over again.  But so nice to have my love's company.  Soon I was running a tad faster than him.  He would keep on running when I walked.

We ran into Karen and her sister and bro-in-law on Center St.  They were just starting their 3 mile run.  She invited me to join them but I told her I'm not ready to join her but may be tomorrow.  It was such a boost to see her.  :)  Hubby and I ended up finishing the 2 mile block in 28+ min.  I was in the run cycle and felt pretty good so decided to go around the block one more time.  I glanced at the Garmin couple times and saw some low 9s pace however the walking pace was 17-20ish.  The left hip also felt clunky during the walk.  When I passed the house I was in the run cycle so ran around the small block behind my house to finish the run/walk in exactly one hour, 4.65 miles (14:14, 12:44, 13:07, 11:44, 12:05)

Ate breakfast with hubby on the deck.

Foam roll the legs, stretch, pay extra attention to the tight pelvic girdle.

Paul ~ So good to hear from you! How are you doing? Still cross training, just not posting right? Thanks for reminding me to be careful. I need to hear that often so I won't make another mistake.

Kelli ~ thanks! not sure about the powerhouse...but for the last 7 years I'd been dreaming that Larry could run and I'd give anything in the world to run with him. I hope I don't ever take the ability to run for granted! :)

Teena ~ Hi there! So good of you to drop by! Hope you are healing quickly and enjoying every second of your busy busy life! :)
