Long-Term Running Goals:

Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Schedule calls for 8 mi w/ 10x100m strides.  Temp 28, cloudy hazy.  Not warm enough to wear just one l/s shirt. Lots of nasal congestion and a little cough.

It took 2 miles to warm up, then hit the uphill after that.  I was wheezing like crazy.  I sounded like a horse with the heavy breathing and wheezing and caughing.  But I DIDN'T run like a horse, more like a mule.  Did a few strides, had no idea how many.  I'm worried that my "horse breathing" is gonna annoy other runners at Painter's.

8 miles in 1:11:46.  AP: 8:58.  Splits: 9:25, 9:02, 9:21 (uphill), 9:01, 8:57, 8:51, 8:35, 8:29.

LOL Smooth I doubt your horse breathing is going to be out of place. Great job on your run today. Who you running with at Painters?? If you dont mind I wouldnt mind running with you.

From Kelli on Mon, Jan 12, 2009 at 14:50:03

It will not annoy me, that is how I always breathe!

Great job running in the cold and while you are still not 100%!!!

Great job Smooth. I'm sure there will be a lot of people breathing like horses, including myself.

From Kathie on Mon, Jan 12, 2009 at 15:17:04

Hey we are still a week out... you never know the horse breathing could be gone by then. Pretty great splits even with the horse breath (oh that sounds like bad breath :) )

From Marion on Mon, Jan 12, 2009 at 16:09:54

:D I sound like a steam engine. Too bad we won't be running near each other, we could clear the path :)

Take care of yourself! Maybe take a nap with the rest of us :)

Mark!!!

How's your ankle? Did you get it checked out? I would LOVE to run with you. Sure you don't mind the "mule trodding" and the "horse breathing"? LOL

Kelli!!!

You don't breathe like that at all. I wish I could run like you.

Dale,

Is that's why people wear ear buds in a race.

Kathie,

No, we don't have a week. We have less than 5 days. I just hope this stupid cold doesn't get settle down in the chest. My nose is so stuffed up I can't smell a thing...bad breath included. LOL :D

Marion,

You crack me up! LOL Steam engine! Hey, when the weather was in the teens, I LOOKED like a steam engine, with all that visible steam(breath) coming out of me.

Hey we'll have so much fun "chugalong choo choo" this Sat. Can hardly wait! Nap sounds like a sweet idea right now.

Smoothie Q,

Please don't overdo it before Painters. You know what N8R always says, the rest is more important than the workouts at this point. PLEASE take care of that upper congestion.

I LOVE YOU!

Teena,

Okay I will. I think that inversion hazy air is bad for the asthma. Why can't we have decent outside running days? You know what I'm gonna say: STINKS!!!
