Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

What I learned today:

1) It's best to have children while you're young and energetic!

2) It's okay to have a piece of fudge for breakfast especially when it's carefully and thoughtfully saved by your grand-daughter from a party last week.

3) Kissing a big pink stuff dog and a big brown fluffy toy dog, no matter how soft and cuddly, is NOT  the same as kissing your own momma and daddy at bed time.

4) Baby knows instantly his Nana loves him. :)

5) Baby Luke (18 mon) grunts the same way as his cousin, Baby Emi (7 mon) which reminds me of how my own babies used to grunt.

6) It's okay to take a break from running to enjoy playing, feeding, changing diapers (4 stinky ones today), reading stories, cooking, laughing, pretending, cleaning,,,I'm soooo tired...time to go to bed.  Night night, don't let the bed bugs bite bite bite.  G'night everyone.

Goodnight SSF!!!!

In Romania they say, "May the bed bugs kiss you." (Meaning may they just kiss you instead of bite you.)

You are such a great example to me!!

I just love you.

Sleep well.

Smooth you are the best! I love the wisdom you have at such a young age!!!!! I hope to be half the grandma you are.

Genius. Glad you had such a wonderful holiday.

SSF!!!

Imagine me telling Jade (7), may the bed bugs kiss you! She would say: "GROSS!". Lex (4) may stay up to watch for the bed bugs to do that. Luke, the baby, would giggle.

I'm having so much fun...but it's sure exhausting...don't know how you did it when Sophia, Livvy and Oliver were that little.

Kathie ~

Half of me would be the size of an 8 year old. Haha!

You will be a WONDERFUL grandma! You will LOVE it! Can't wait till your grandbaby comes!

jun ~

THANKS! The holiday just started! I'm so GLAD my daughter and her husband get to celebrate their 10th anniversary on a cruise. Hope you have a great December!

"1) It's best to have children while you're young and energetic!" My wife and I were/are not young parents but you have way more energy and are healthier than many of the young parents I know! You've got some lucky children and grandchildren.

SO glad you're enjoying those babies! You've got more than enough energy to take care of them! Oh, and just remember...it's a marathon not a sprint :)

You are such a good grandma!! Now, you know how much I hate (and love) running, but I would run 10 miles over changing a diaper!!!

Enjoy the break and love those cuddly, grunting, pooping machines!

From Smooth on Mon, Nov 30, 2009 at 22:11:36 from 71.52.71.251

Rhett ~

I so admire you parents nowadays doing a mighty fine job raising such awesome kids. The best part of being grandparents is to enjoy the "fruits of that labor". :)

Mark ~

THANKS! The little ones sure keep you young, I tell ya! If grandparenthood is this fun...great grand must be GREATER!

Rachel ~

Seriously, I'm pacing myself...enjoying the journey!

Kelli ~

A clean diaper = happy baby = happy Nana! A baby's smile is PRICELESS!!!
