Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Another day of zero running.  Went to the pool again.  I did a little freestyle after getting bored with TI drills that I don't seem to be improving on.

Went with hubby to my monthly temple date with friends at the Draper Temple.  Since there was no cafeteria, we went to Blue Lemon for lunch afterward.

VERY WINDY!!!  Leaves a flying everywhere!!!!  On my way to the P.O. I got caught in a leavy twirlwind on 300W 300N!!!  It was like wizard of Oz!!!  No place like home!!!

I need to do these regularly:

Are you hurt?? :(

Is there anything I can do for you? Looks like you must know what is wrong and have some good exercises.

Can you believe the weather last night?

I think it is my right ITB. :( It really bugs after sitting (bending of the knee) for a while. It hurts when I straighten the leg and at push off (even when walking).

I found that link showing some exercises to rehab and strength the glutes and adductors...hoping it helps.

Is Ry taking you some place fun to celebrate your birthday? :) :) :)

I am so impressed that with all of these marathons you have been doing that this is all that seems to be bothering you a bit. Seriously ... your body has done amazingly well!!! :)

We decided to stick around this weekend since both Rylee and Payton made the basketball teams they were trying out for and have a lot going on with that tomorrow. I am sure we will go out in the evening though for some good food and maybe a movie. :)

That ITB video is a good one. I still do those exercises as part of my weekly routine. I try to do them (not all of them, but some and some different ones for shins) 3X/week while I'm training. Just make sure you get the ITB inflamation down before you start doing these. But, who amd I to tell you what to do...Teena is in on this and knows tons more than I do!

From Smooth on Mon, Nov 12, 2012 at 14:22:53 from 67.2.119.62

Hi there Rachel ~ I thought about exactly what you said (get the ITB inflammation down before doing these) when I tried these exercises last week! What was I thinking? I really need to do the foam rolling and stretching and ice massage as you suggested first!

Thanks for checking in on me, what'd I do without you?!!! Speaking of which, I have missed you! How was the LV Ragnar?

Luz and I wanted to do a JRP run this weekend. What's your plan? I hope my ITB gets better before then!

From RAD on Mon, Nov 12, 2012 at 14:29:34 from 67.171.119.50

Oh heavens YES!!! I'd LOVE to run with you ladies on the JRP!!! I'm SO in like Flynn! LV Ragnar was good. I have to download my Garmin, but ended up with over 37 miles in 28ish hrs. Good times :) I had a wonderful and fun team. I ran with 3 of them and it was good times!

Your ITB better be all healed up and QUICK!

Sounds wonderful! Can't wait to read all the details. :)
