Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Schedule says to do Recovery + speed:  6 mi w/ 6x100m stirdes am.  then 4 mi pm.

Was gone all morning to Bob's and presidency mtg.  Picking up friends for dinner and concert at 4:30pm.  SO, had to lump the two runs together in the afternoon.

10.5 mi in 1:39:25.  AP: 9:27.

Stretch & core.

Trying to decide what to run the rest of this week since I have Lake to Lake Relay in SG on Sat.

Pfitz plan:  Thu ~ Recovery 5 mi.  Fri ~ 8K-15K tune-up race.  Sat ~ Long run 18 mi.

Option 1:  Thu ~ Recovery 5 mi.  Fri ~ rest.  Sat ~ L2L relay (about 10 mi)

Option 2:  Thu ~ Long run 14-16 mi.  Fri ~ Recovery 3 mi.  Sat ~ L2L relay.

Option 3:  ?  Any suggestion?

Take the rest of the week off and eat chocolate!!! Kidding (kind of!)

I would do like 10-12 tomorrow and maybe 5-7 on Friday. You have built up some serious mileage, I think your body can handle a little more on Friday. My reasoning is that long runs wipe me out, so maybe if you do a semi-long run Thursday and make-up for the mileage with a 5-7 Friday then you will be not utterly exhausted for L2L! But, i am kinda dumb!!!

Have fun with the relay! Take some pictures for me!

GREAT idea Kelli especially the chocolate part. :) You have a good point there. I shouldn't do too long a run which wipes me out too. And it does take me more than 3 miles to just get in the groove.

Thanks for reminding me to take pictures.

Hmmm....maybe I am SUPER SMART!!!! I wish I could come and do the relay with you, it sounds like fun.

From Smooth on Wed, Mar 03, 2010 at 17:59:44 from 174.23.198.220

Yep Kel, YOU ARE SUPER DUPER SMART! Wish you could come too. We would have soooo much fun! And you're expert in relay. This one is so much shorter, would be a piece of cake for you!

I agree with Kelli, long runs wipe you out. I also like to plan long runs for when I can have COMPANY!

Is it possible to do the 10 miles for L2L and then tack on 8 more easy afterward as a cool down so you get your 18-miler?

From JulieC on Wed, Mar 03, 2010 at 21:15:25 from 71.219.46.106

even out the runs Thursday and Friday---10 miles tomorrow and 7 miles Friday. Mild taper.

What are the plans for Friday night? I know I am going down with Ry but I would still love to do dinner with the girls, etc. :)

Can't wait to spend some time with my SSF!!!!

Btw, I figured we were running Saturday just for fun so pushed it hard today. I am interested to see what you do.

Nice run Smooth! L2L sounds like a fun relay that won't leave you sleep deprived for the next week :) Have a good time and good luck on the plan/taper.

From Kelli on Thu, Mar 04, 2010 at 17:08:40 from 71.219.89.82

Teena, since when DON'T you push it??? AND I bet your "running for fun" will be dang fast as well! You are FAST!!!

Have fun you two!

From Smooth on Thu, Mar 04, 2010 at 18:05:39 from 174.23.198.220

Thanks everyone for your suggestion and input. Originally I was going to run the 18 miler on Thu. So after thinking it over, I decided to do an MLR so the legs wouldn't be too tired.

SSF ~ I totally agree with Kelli. You ALWAYS push it. Your "running for run" is "racing all out"! Can't wait to see you at L2L. LOVE YOU X 9!!!
