Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Brain training core workout phase 1, 2, 3, 4.

Left ankle tendon still angry, sore to touch.  Has anyone run barefooted before?

Dinner with Bobby McFerrin at La Caille.  The desserts (yes three) were the best part.

Bobby "Don't worry, be happy" McFerrin

at La Caille? Wow, look at you rubbin' elbows with celebrities at fancy restaurants. That's awesome. What was the occasion?

I've never run barefoot before, but I've thought about trying it. Are you going to try it?

From DonGardinero on Fri, Mar 06, 2009 at 01:11:08 from 152.216.7.5

Bobby McFerrin is a great Jazz musician. He even had a job at the U a long time ago as a pianist. I don't think many people know he has utah ties.

It was an intimate dinner for about 100 guests, most of them are deans of the performing art school at the U. Joan Woodbury, Linda Smith, Mrs. Ririe, Steve. My hubby is on the Advisory Board of Kingsbury Hall which host the benefit dinner tonight. The proceeds go to the workshop Bobby will hold for some lucky students on campus tomorrow. We will be attending his concert Sat. night at Kingsbury. I didn't know anything about Bobby until tonight. He is quite a humanitarian, has a special gift of making acapella music. He "accompanies" the Ute dancers some 30 years ago. The U was happy to "bring home one of their sons". It was a fine evening.

The tongue of the running shoes hurt my ankle tendons; so I was thinking about running barefooted (on the treadmill) until it heals.

Met lots of fascinating artists.

Hey Smooth, it's really cool that you get to go see him in concert. He's really, really good. I've heard a lot of his music over the years. I'm a big fan of jazz music. I hope you have fun....I'm sure you will. I'm jealous.

As for running barefoot, I was thinking about getting me a pair of the shoes on this website:

Check it out.

Good luck w/ the barefoot on the treadmill. I'm interested to see how you like it. I've never tried it before but I know e few people who run barefoot on the track after their normal runs. 3 desserts? You're a girl after my own heart ,. . .we'd get along just fine. We have to have some rewards for working so hard through the week!!!! Hope your foot heals soon, , , sounds like a neat dinner you attended!

You live a glamarous life Miss Smoothie Q!!

Hope your ankle tendon is feeling better today.

If I remember right, I could be completely wrong, but I think both Hal Higdon and Lowell occasionally run barefoot on golf courses. I'm sure Hidden Valley wouldn't mind! :)

"The ankle says my tendon aches

You need to run for goodness sakes -

Don't worry, be happy."

(isn't that how Bobby's song goes?)

Great day for sure! How fun. What kind of deserts did you get to have??

I used to run barefoot on the treadmill at home all the time. I did not notice it hurting me in any way!

So I guess no JRP for you tomorrow? Bummer, I was so looking forward to seeing you!

Ah man. No Smooth for tomorrows run?? Hmm Might have to make different plans then. Bummer well hope it starts feeling better soon.

From maurine/tarzan on Fri, Mar 06, 2009 at 12:55:55 from 63.255.172.2

I run barefoot on the treadmill and on tracks and occasionally on grass. It takes some getting used to for the ankles and stuff - but is ok for 3-4 miles.

I have the Vibram Five Fingers. They took me about 3 weeks of getting used to them. They are cold in the winter - so don't use them much right now and I found that if I do more than 4-5 miles in them I start having foot issues.
