Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

The push up challenge was VERY VERY HARD!  Wk 5 Day 3 Column 3: 20, 20, 24, 24, 20, 20, 22...max 50 !!!  I DID IT!!!  I nearly killed my arms and shoulders.

OK, I put on my newest pair of shoes, undid the last loopy laces, loosened up the tongues, etc, etc.  ran 0.2 mile and had to abandon the run.  The big tendon at the top of the ankle was just screaming at me to stop.  Limped home.  Put on my crocs and ran around the driveway.  I looked really silly; so I resorted to running on the treadmill.

I tried barefoot at first, but 'ole blisters on the bottom of the right foot immediately protested.  So I put on the cushiest pair of socks and ran with my crocs on.  The tendons felt fine once it warmed up but the left middle toe nail felt like it's bruised.  I might loose that toe nail.  Guess I can't run with crocs.

2 mile warm up @ 6-7mph

6 x 100 m strides @ 8mph w/ 100 m recovery @ 7mph

2 mile cool down @ 7-6.5mph

6 miles in 52:00.  AP: 8:39

WHAT to do with my long run tomorrow???!!!  I think I will undo the laces from the 2-3 eyelets and tape the tongues down so they don't touch my ankles.

Off to the grocery store.  I have to clean,  cook and set table for dinner for 14.  Lots of chopping and stir-frying.   I'm making lettuce wrap, spring roll (from Costco so I don't have to deep-fry), pot-stickers, charsiu, garlic green beans, pepper steak, cashew shrimp, chicken with sweet pea & sweet red pepper, long rice w/ eggs and  laapcheong.  Need to ice the tendons somehow.  Wish me luck!

I'm still planning on the long run at Lehi JRP tomorrow at 7:30 am.  I will improvise with my footwear somehow.  Hope everyone is still coming.

Stop Smooth! Your making me hungry again. How do you stay so small with all that great food you always have?

Be carefull with that foot. If it is too painful take tomorrow off. Missing one long run is way better than missing the marathon. I hope you are icing it a few times per day.

Oh Smooth I think we are going at 8 AM tomorrow. I sure hope to see you. But would completely understand if you take the day off of running. Go by feel and let us know if your going to be there or not. If anything though we will be seeing I hope next weekend at Spectrum 10k. Got to finish up that running series.:)

Dang foot, I am so sorry. We are such a sorry bunch of runners. BUT, on a better note, look at you kikcing out those push ups like she-woman!! I am so impressed. You have inspired me to really give it a trey (for the 3rd time). I am such a loser for quitting over and over, but I WON'T this time!

Hope your dinner was a blast!

Smooth, maybe the pushups are hurting your feet??? Maybe the few minutes in the front-leaning-rest position is causing the foot pain, perhaps? Once you do your hundred, are you going to keep doing them..and turn into the Smooth-inator? :-)

Dinner sounds great!

Smooth,

I am sorry about the foot. I know how injuries and blisters can cause all sorts of problems.

I might wimp out and head to a TM tomorrow. I have a conference, so I don't know if I will be able to do a long run in the morning. I will miss you!

WAY TO GO ON THE PC!!!!! 50? NO WAY SMOOTH, YOU ARE AMAZING!!!!!
