Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Day 2 of Pfitzinger's Returning to Running After a Stress Fracture program.  According to his 7 weeks schedule, I'm supposed to do water running today.  May be I'll do water running tomorrow when the weather is supposed to be stormy.  :)  This morning was windy, cloudy with temp in the 40s.

Walked 5 min. with Wendy to meet Karen.  We did the 5min run/walk west onto Bull River to north end of rail trail then turn south and west back up on 3200N.  We had to run up the steepest part into the wind...I felt SO out of shape.  When we got to my house, we had 2 min left on the run so we kept going and looped around the small block behind my house which added another 0.25 mile for a total of 6 miles in 1:17:22 AP: 13:03.

Foot felt fine during the run.  Felt some tightness on the plantar fascia during the walk.  Left iliopsoas is a bit achy.

Foam roll and stretch.

3 circuits of CSE.

Paint Eric's bedroom.

I signed up for Spectrum.

I just signed up for Spectrum yesterday too! I've had the hotel reserved for months, I just hate those race fees, but Spectrum isn't bad at all - thankfully!

Nice job on staying steady on the rehab program Smooth! It will pay off tremendously in the long run. Keep with it! Take care of those little aches and pains.

That's cool that there is an actual plan for coming back from a stress fracture that you can follow. I hope it works to perfection for you.

I'm glad you are able to stick to a plan so your foot will not get reinjured. I'm also glad you have friends to walk/run with.

The water running can be very productive.

Ya, you are in Spectrum. Kelly and I will be doing a run walk the whole way, wave as you pass us. :-)

Rachel ~ I checked your name immediately after I signed up and was so happy to see that you've registered.

THANKS for the encouragement on the rehab stuff. I so need to hear it from you. You are my inspiration! :)

Rhett ~ I've never had a stress fracture before and don't know what I'm doing. It's nice that there are plans and programs out there to help me figure things out. This will at least give me some guidelines. What I like about Pfitzinger is he explains the principles and purpose of what we're trying to achieve...so I don't go into this blindly.

Paul ~ I agree! :)

Jon ~ I need to take it nice and easy so the stress fracture will not come back. I will be doing the run/walk thing at Spectrum too. I highly doubt I will pass you. We should just hang out together. :)

We would love to have you join us. I'm sure we will be slower than you need, but your welcome to stay with us as long as you would like!
