Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Surprisingly there's no knee pain.  May be it's masked by the ibuprophen I've been taking for my sore throat and headache.

I went to church with my son and his roommates.  I'm glad I went even though I wasn't feeling well.  I wouldn't want to miss my friend's son's mission report.  His dad was our bishop.  He just returned from serving 2 years in Fiji.  He spoke on Obedience.  He is such a fine young man!!!  Then my son's former YM president spoke.  I can tell Steven was touched by the wonderful leaders who have taught him and helped us raise him over the years! :)

I was going to go home after sacrament.  But Valerie's excited and exuberant hug was irresistable.  She grabbed my hand and dragged me to Primary.  She kept patting my back and with sincere concern, "you sick?"  "you ok?"  "feel better."  "you my friend?"  "you my friend?"  "you my friend?"  "you my friend?"  "Sue-AnnaH, my friend!"  "watch Valerie?"  "Watch Valerie?"  "you my friend?"  "you my friend?"  for the entire 2 hours!  If that doesn't make one feel better, I don't know what! :)  Yes, Valerie, I'm your friend.  I LOVE YOU!  and I will always watch over you! :)

Then I went to Choir practice.  I'm the ward choir director.  I didn't bake any treats today.  Thankfully I had some Costco mini-cream-puffs.  The choir was a noisy bunch today.  Not paying attention to my directing or hoarse-talking-voice!  It didn't help that I had to keep covering my mouth while coughing.  I am very concerned as we are singing in two weeks and then singing two numbers on Easter which happens to be the day of Steven's *non-farewell*.

After giving Steven's roommate a haircut (he's a fine young man, recently return missionary serving in Ogden, a polite boy with a headfull of curly dark hair that most Latin Americans have), fed them a quick dinner, I bid them goodbye for the 2 hr drive back to USU.  The next time I see Steven will be on his brother's wedding on April 23 and Steven will speak at Sacrament on April 24, before leaving for his mission.  I did well holding back tears until after the car was out of sight, then the tears just flooded!

The evening's highlight was when Larissa got on web-cam and I got to see Baby Jett all sleepy eyed, dressed in his white blessing outfit.  It's bittersweet that I couldn't be there for his blessing.  It is so hard to have my grandchildren so far away.  I miss them terribly!

Hubby got home from attending a fireside.  He was bummed that he missed seeing Baby Jett.  He hasn't even met the baby in person yet.  Oh, the sacrifice he makes!

OH SMOOTH! You are just amazing. I truly miss you, it has been ages. I hope one day to even be half of the woman you are (which will be hard as I am taller).

LOVE YOU! ;o)

Kelli ~ You're so funny! I have been thinking about you and am so excited for your very first ultra race on Antelope Island. I bragged about you to Karen and Luz on our long run on Sat. You are doing so awesome! I can't remember, is Scott running the 50 miler or is he just pacing you some of the way? Larry asked about Scott all the time.

LOVE YOU too, Kelli bug! I will miss you and Scott at Boston this year! :)

Wish it had been in the cards to go to Boston again since Scott was still qualified, but now he will just have to work harder to get there again! Maybe we will go again in 5 years....

Scott is just pacing me for the last little bit (I think it is about 17 miles). Hopefully he can motivate me and drag me in, but I have a fear that he is actually just going to annoy me. I have a hard time being with people when I am racing. I get anti-social and grumpy!!!!

Scott is training for the SLC Marathon, so the long runs have been good for him (I think). I hope he does really well. The kids and I are going to go cheer him in, then we have a 50k for me the next weekend in St George. After that, I will decide whether I like these ultras or not!

No bragging about me, I am just your average JOE, I promise. I am going to join in on one of these weekend running adventures once I get this 50 out of the way. I am only running 12 this weekend and I am sure all of you guys will be doing way more, right?

Karen is running the SLC marathon. I told her all about Scott. I just wish she had a chance to meet you two. She is hoping Rachel (doing the half) will start with her.

We have a step-down week. I am thinking 13-15 miles on Sat. if I get over this annoying cough/congestion/headache/blah blah blah!

So, may be we can get together on Sat. for a run, it will be super short for you! :)

Let me know what you decide on. I may do a trail run with Jun, not sure though.

FEEL BETTER!!!!!

I would love to meet Karen (or have I already met her, the name sounds familiar!)

You should do trail run with jun...there's no more icy trap though, right?

I don't think you've met Karen. she is 44 yo, has salt and pepper hair. she runs with a great dog named Sky. Her first races were Snow Canyon Half and St. George Half. SLC will be her first marathon.

Seriously, I think you are an amazing running machine! You are going to be a young female version of Crockett! You have that talent! I won't be surprised if you win the Buffalo 50 miler! wish I could be there to cheer you!

Oh, you won't be grumpy as long as you take in adequate food/fuel, it will be no different than your Sat run with Scott! I know how much you two are in love!!! :)

From Kelli on Tue, Mar 15, 2011 at 18:40:20 from 71.219.97.85

I love him but I still get grumpy, even on Saturday running excursions!

Thanks for your confidence in mw, I am not sure why everyone else has so much confidence in me. I hope I do not let anyone down! I am excited to get this done and over with, I am so nervous about it!
