Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Cloudy morning!  I don't know why...but it's always warmer running westward than east?!

My weight is creeping up as a result of all the holiday BBQs, family parties and eating out!  Consequently I'm running like an elephant.  It seems to take 5-6 miles to *warm up* but it is plenty WARM out!  STINK!!!

With grandkids and family visiting, I have neglected my post-run stretch/recovery or any form of strength/stability exercise.  On the positive note, I haven't given up running, not yet anyway!  So onward and upward, slow and steady is better than NOT running at all, right?!!! :)

Have a great weekend, everyone!  We are running the Provo River Parkway tomorrow; meet at the park south of Riverwoods at 6am!  Hope to see you there! :)

Hmm....I thought it was PERFECT today! It was a bit muggy, but cooler for July!

You, run like an elephant? SERIOUSLY? You weigh like a buck ten!

From Smooth on Fri, Jul 08, 2011 at 14:26:20 from 67.2.82.5

It was PERFECT at 6 when you ran! :) Seriously, the temp isn't too bad for July! My legs were dog tired from hiking yesterday holding a baby or pushing a toddler in a stroller!

I have gained 6 pounds!!!! That is a lot for shortie me! I usually gain in the winter, NOT summer!!! I would be a beached whale instead of elephant soon! How do I stop this gluttony!!!! :) :) :)

My weight is still up, we need to run off our chub together!!! I know 4-5 pounds makes me feel yucky so I do hear you. We can make the 18 tomorrow take us 5 hours, run super slow and burn those calories!!! Scott claims you burn more when you run slower. ;o)

By the end of our run today, i was actually pretty cold! I was sweating so much from the humidity, but it was not cold hot enough to warrant the sweat and it made me a bit freezing! BUT, totally not complaining about it. Loving it for July.

As long as you don't give up the running everything else is curable, in my opinion. Good job, nice miles for such a busy week.

I literally weight twice as much as you do so if there is anybody who looks like an elephant it is me. Good job on getting in the miles with your super busy schedule.

I think all that holiday eating got the best of me too.

Have a good run on the parkway.

Onward and upward!

you must be carb loading for your next race, Which is ???

From Smooth on Sat, Jul 09, 2011 at 17:10:58 from 67.2.82.5

Flat ~ Yep, I believe a good run cures ALMOST everything!

Andy ~ Whatever! You're twice as TALL as me! You will NEVER look like an elephant! Thanks for saying the nicest things!

bye-wing ~ Hi there! Have you ever run the Provo Canyon before? You'd love it!

Slick ~ Nope, not carb-loading! Just out-of-control eating! :)

I am signed up for Park City. Thinking about DNews! Have to look into the heat factor and how this old body gonna be in couple weeks!

You ready for DNews?
