Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

10 with Karen, Wendy and Carolyn.  Wore the Ascend hoping to run some trail, but the canal trail was too muddy.  Ran up to Highland via Suncrest to Hog Hollow trail head.  Got two pre-blisters on the 4th toes. :)

Sounds fun and great distance for a Wednesday Smooth. :)

Yikes! Those shoes don't sound so good! Yay for 10!

blech...I hate blisters. Nice job pounding through it. Do you think that the shoes will do better on a trail surface and not give you the blisters?

From Bec on Thu, Jan 26, 2012 at 15:11:05 from 68.206.133.141

Blisters and ouchies all over your legs? You must be in some pain. I keep thinking about your TM accident and even told David about it. We were both happy that someone was there to stop the machine.

Great miles today. You are getting ready for the Orphan run in Feb. I will keep you posted when I figure out just what I am going to do.

Dang mud!!! I am also wanting the mud to leave so I can ride my bike more safely!! :)

Did you run today? How are you? :)

From Rhett on Fri, Jan 27, 2012 at 10:57:25 from 170.215.58.122

You should run those trails and practice for one of those mud races that are getting popular. I had a patient do one a couple weeks ago and said he had a blast.

Rachell ~ thanks! I love *hump day*. I used to run MLR of 11-15 miles on Wednesdays...but now 99% of my runs are with friends who don't need or want to run that many miles, sigh! :)

Amy ~ Last time I wore those trail shoes was for the Goblin Valley 50K. Since I'll be running a forest trail marathon in 9 days, I thought I better *break* them in again. I tend to get *shoe crease* blisters...all part of the game. :)

Rachel ~ shoe crease blisters happen whether on road or soft trail. Crockett recommend trail shoes for the course that I will be running on. It is on the same trails that he will be running the Rocky Racoon 100 next Sat. So I figure I better get the blisters nice and calloused and then use bandaids. It will be fun! :)

Bec ~ my daughter said I'm addicted to pain! :) May be she's right! Hehe! Seriously I have learned to appreciate the biggest organ of the body aka SKIN. :) The Orphan Run is just a long run, an excuse to visit my daughter and grandkids. It'll be fun to see you there.

I am excited for your Dallas Half this weekend. There are so many races in TX this time of year...you should take advantage of them. I do wish the best ones weren't on Sundays though. :)

SSF ~ for some reason I don't think you'd have problem with muddy trail, granted it might be safer. But knowing how you LOVE the Spartan race and your hardcoreness...you will ride the trails muddy or not. :) Love and miss you!

Rhett ~ those mud dashes look really fun. I know I'd grown a couple inches with the mud caked to the shoes; as long as I don't get *buried* in 'em given how *tall* I am! Hehe! :)
