Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Got a single text from Karen inviting me to join them.  She was puzzled that I hadn't been replying to her previous texts.  Anyhow, I wasn't ready to go; so they ran 3 miles before coming to get me at my house.  We ran west on MCT then east back to their neighborhood and I ran home solo.  Cloudy but calm, temp at 28F.  Sure beat running solo in the "sauna home TM"!  :)

PM: went to visit Sister Levine at the University of Utah Hospital rehab unit.  She was very aggitated because she just had a long PT session.  But when Larry spoke to her, she calmed down and tracked with her eyes to look at Larry and listened intently.  When her mom asked her: "can you say President Lew?"  She whispered: "President Lew.".  She was pulling and pinching my hand when I held her hand because she was pinching and pulling her own eyebrows and lips.  (she even bite her mom's finger!)  Then as I talked to her about her companions, she calmed down and listened intently.  When I said: "I love you!"  She burrowed her brows and mouthed "I love you!".  What a tender moment!  Larry started to weep when we said goodbye to her.  It was very hard for us to see her like that.  We have faith that she will recover.  She was a very special missionary and no doubt the Lord protected her when she was hit by the car going 40mph and was pinned under the car.  All the doctors said they couldn't understand how there was not a single broken bone.  She suffered massive head trauma.  It's been 83 days and she has made huge improvement over the last week.  We joined many from around the world to pray for her and her family every single day!

Hooray for friends and going outside! How is your foot feeling?

From Smooth on Tue, Nov 25, 2014 at 22:46:43 from 67.2.108.5

Toby ~ my feet felt fine during the run; but are a bit achy as the day wears on; hopefully not stress fracture waiting to happen!

I'm back and I don't like the news I'm hearing...not at all! :)

I hope your feet heal quickly!

Ms. Smooth, if you don't have a pressing race in front of you, why don't you give those poor "Dawgs" a little break and let them heal up.......? Hey, how's Bro Larry, bring me up to date, please!

I'm glad you stopped ignoring your friends texts. :)

It was fun reading about your overheated TM run yesterday. I hope you and Larry have a wonderful Thanksgiving tomorrow.

I'm glad you could run with friends. I hate running on the treadmill.

From Smooth on Wed, Nov 26, 2014 at 21:55:21 from 67.2.108.5

Hi Slick ~ Larry has end stage kidney failure. He's been on peritoneal dialysis (PD) since the week after SGM. Previously he was on hemodialysis. We do PD five times a day everyday. At its best, dialysis gives him 15% kidney function. He is weak, tired, unable to fall asleep and has restless legs syndrome. He takes nearly 20 different kinds of medication. Evenings and nights are the hardest time for him. Thanks for asking!

Rhett ~ Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!

Nancy ~ ditto. Hope you and your family have a great Thanksgiving!

RAD ~ I'm ok, really! No worries! :)
