Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

6 easy recovery with Karen and Wendy.  Hubby ran 1st mile with us.  Nice to see the JrH kids lining up for bus on their first day of school.  Very pleasant weather.  Legs felt fine after couple miles.  Wendy and I talked about preparation for her son's wedding reception this Sat. that will be held in a neighbor's backyard.  I tried to talk Karen into running Pokey with me.

Registered for Pokey and booked a hotel room.

How is Lex doing? Is he out of the ICU?

You must be feeling well if you registered for Poky! :)

Smooth, I just read your PCM race report. I loved all the pictures. You looked fresh and full of energy from start to finish. Congratulations on another great marathon.

Teena ~ Lex is still in the ICU only because they don't have a room on the neuro floor for him. They took his art-line and Foley out; and no monitoring of his CSF pressure. His pain is managed by PO meds and IV prn. Not ambulatory yet and little appetite. Hoping a better day today.

I am feeling okay. I am content with running 5 hrs marathons now! My PR days are over. At my age and current fitness, I'm fine with that. Just grateful to be running.

Dale ~ thanks! how are you? Sure miss you at PC.

RAD ~ Karen decided not to come. I even tried to convince her to do the Half. This is a busy time of year with all her kids' sport activities.

Nancy ~ Pokey is a fond nickname for Pocatello Marathon. I debated whether to do the full or the half. My friend, Lowell, convinced me that I would not be happy running the half. So, I'm doing the Full, another jogging party! :)

Rhett ~ PCM was fun. We just run from "buffet" station to "buffet" station. I'm sure many serious and talented runners/marathoners would not consider it "running". :) Thanks for your kind words.
