Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

A "friendship" run today.  Ran with Wendy R., Mary, Carolyn & Stephanie who were doing 3 miles.  Left them and saw 2 ladies who used to be in my ward, ran with them for 1 mile.  Ran into Wendy C, turned and ran with her for a mile.    She had 4 more to go so I ran 1.75 hill by myself.   Easy pace: 10:13, 9:52, 9:50, 9:17, 9:15, 9:40, 9:26.

Around the world core, fast abs, clam shell, abductor lifts (40 rep)

Might do SWTOfD later.

Happy August and a GREAT week, Everyone!

I just wanted to be the first to say well done.

From Bec on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 11:25:03 from 67.177.35.60

Love that you ran with so many friends. It's strange to me that I never see you running in our 'hood on week days, I always look for you. I'll keep looking.

From Cal on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 11:25:46 from 66.133.117.3

Paul beat me to it. Good job Smooth.

From Teena on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 11:27:47 from 67.177.20.13

Paul, Bec, and Cal beat me to it!!!

But let me be the first to say that I think you are so stinkin' fantastic and love you!!!

Beat that Paul, Bec and Cal!!! :)

Nice job Smooth! :)

From Kathie on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 11:31:09 from 207.155.176.10

A "friendship run" I should put that on my training schedule...I would much rather do that than hill repeats!

Way to go Smooth!

From Smooth on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 11:40:37 from 71.32.234.135

Paul,

You're TOO COOL!!!

Bec,

You must run much earlier than me. I usually head east around 6:30 am. When I run with the ladies I wait for them in front of Wendy Roger's house.

There were a lot of runners out this morning. My GPS were all over the place. I run thru the Perry Home's development behind your house all the time on my last mile home.

Cal,

THANKS!

Teena,

You are so stinkin' awesome and fast and I LOVE YOU too!

Kathie,

I'm gonna call all my recovery run friendship run b/c we talked and talked and talked with a little running thrown in.

From leslie peterson on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 11:41:05 from 76.23.61.78

Holy Cow, you ran with the whole Utah County this morning! That sounds like so much fun! Tell Wendy hi!

From AmberG on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 12:19:05 from 64.255.89.25

Sounds like a fun morning to be out running, , , with great friends!!! THat's the BEST!!! What a way to start off your week:)

I still need to check out what SWTOfD means, Allie gave me the link for an explanation but I'm still in the dark:)

You're AWESOME!!

From Smooth on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 12:34:25 from 71.32.234.135

Amber,

SwimTerrifiedOfDrowning! It's an activity where I put on a swimming suit, go to my neighbor's pool ALONE, pretend to swim. I thrash around and jump or stand up to catch a breath and hope to not drown. My heart rate gets way up there during some near drowning episodes. :)

From Rhett on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 13:04:27 from 74.41.249.102

Smooth, if I were going to go on a "Friendship" run, you would be at the top of my list to do it with. Sounds like fun.

From Jon A on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 13:12:24 from 67.214.249.195

Good run Smooth!

Great run. It was nice to meet you at the end of the race the other day. Thanks for the encouragement.

From DonGardinero on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 14:32:59 from 75.162.167.29

Way to go Smoothie. Wow, you and Teena are putting everyone to shame with all the miles.

From Leandra on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 14:34:42 from 71.213.99.126

What a good start to the week! And I'm jealous of your friendship run, it's always so much more fun to run when you're with people :)

From Smooth on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 15:31:40 from 71.32.234.135

Rhett,

Not a chance ever for me to run with you...may be on side by side TMs. So excited for your test run today. That tightness will be a thing of the past.

Jon,

Did you run today? Welcome back to Utah Valley!

Mike,

Thanks! How's the 2-a-day going?

Johnny,

Welcome back from Trek. Was nice to meet your cute family after the race.

Dale,

Thanks! She's gonna beat me though when I taper down for PC.

Leandra,

HI cutie! How's your training been? Yep, so fun to run with friends.

From RAD on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 16:31:51 from 76.27.12.70

Glad you got a wonderful run in this morning...you're going to have to start getting a permit to just do your normal everyday runs! Too many people want to run with the coolest lady around - Smooth!

From Smooth on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 16:36:13 from 71.32.234.135

A PERMIT!!! LOVE IT! Rachel, you're SO FUNNY!!!

From Kelli on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 17:31:42 from 71.219.100.174

Fun stuff, you seem to be friends with everyone out there. i wished I lived out there so i could run into you on a run and make you join me!

From Jon A on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 17:35:03 from 67.214.249.195

When are we all gonna meet for a run? JRP?

From Kelli on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 17:36:49 from 71.219.100.174

I am glad you added the ALL to that! Scott and I are going to do 18 there on Friday, but most people are working I assume!!!

From Smooth on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 17:43:23 from 71.32.234.135

Hmm...I'm flexible! Wendy's group are doing their long runs on Fri. too. Let me know the time. May be we can have a party afterward!

From Jon A on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 17:45:14 from 67.214.249.195

Yeah, sorry didn't mean for that to sound exclusive. Friday? I need to run 18 on Sat. FYI, there will be a bike race at Thanksgiving Point Sat. It starts and finishes at TP, 100 miles goes around Ut Lake.

We should plan a long run with everyone in the next couple weeks.

From Smooth on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 17:51:06 from 71.32.234.135

Is Kelly (soon to be "A") gonna race that one?

From Jon A on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 17:54:21 from 67.214.249.195

Yep Kelly soon to be "A" will be ridding that one. I have to get my miles in, so I will not be able to support her on this one that much. She and her team are shooting for a first place finish.

From Kelli on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 18:02:52 from 71.219.100.174

Probably 5:30 or 6 am. Gotta get it out of the way before it gets too hot.

From Bec on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 18:14:15 from 67.177.35.60

I usually head out a little before 7, I like to sleep in a little. I might be heading to the track tomorrow, maybe I will see you there. JRP on Friday? Maybe I will be joining for that, I haven't decided about the Saturday situation.

From Nancy on Mon, Aug 03, 2009 at 21:43:47 from 76.27.11.127

It sounds like you have enough friends to run one mile with each and run a whole marathon.

From allie on Tue, Aug 04, 2009 at 00:17:15 from 208.110.151.113

nice run smooth! nothing beats a friendship run. let me know when you get your permit so that i can join you. hope your SWTofD session went well. :)

From Smooth on Tue, Aug 04, 2009 at 12:07:49 from 71.32.234.135

JonA,

Kelly is such an AWESOME athlete! I hope she and her team WIN this Sat. You'll be close by for the start/finish at Thanksgiving Point. Tell her I wish her the BEST!

Kelli,

You and Scott are such early riser.

Bec,

Didn't see you at the track this morning. The football team was there. The girls soccer team came a little later. Then a youth sport camp benefitting the Foundation for the Blind came as I was finishing my workout. It was getting warm.

I haven't decided what and when to do my long run either.

Nancy,

You are so cute! Friends sure make running fun.

Allie,

THANKS! The SWTofD did not happen. I may do that tomorrow.
