Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Easy run with Wendy! About a mile into the run, my knee starts to hurt! We cut the run short. Went to the pool but the hot tub is broken (hubby's only reason to go there is to soak his sore ankle) so we left!

Core. Upper body ST. Foam roll and stretch.

Evening: 45 min practice TI swim drills!

Oh no I am so sorry to hear about the knee. :( Hopefully it was just a litle niggle. Nice work with the Strength training!

From LuzyLew on Mon, Nov 19, 2012 at 12:37:30 from 174.52.135.83

Shoot! I hope that 10 miler didn't do you in. Stay off that knee and let it heal. Just go to thanksgiving and let your sister feed you, and feed you, and feed you :) Have fun!

From Smooth on Mon, Nov 19, 2012 at 12:48:13 from 67.2.119.62

Rachelle ~ I hope it's just a niggle too! Kneed to be more diligent with the strength training and the little maintenance stuff like foam rolling.

Luz ~ I don't think the 10 miler did that! It's already there and I was just super happy that it didn't hurt during and after the 10miler. I don't know what it is. Strange that it comes and goes like that! I do notice that it hurts or catches with a certain movements like when I did the bridge position and tried to lift that leg. Who knows! Stupid knee!

Yes, I am going to be a blimp after all that feeding from my sister! :)

You have a great week and happy thanksgiving, my friend! :)

Sorry to hear about your knee- pains can be so frustrating!

And a broken down hot tub (especially in cold weather) is grounds for a riot.

Enjoy your holiday with your sister...I wish I could spend it with my sisters!!

Sorry about your knee!! I'm sure it will work itself out! Have a great Thanksgiving :)

From Teena Marie on Mon, Nov 19, 2012 at 15:54:19 from 63.230.16.129

Sorry that you are still in pain. Sounds like there is a lot of inflammation and that the band is rubbing on the lateral femoral condyle. If it were me I would (hope you don't mind the unsolicited response here):

1. Take ibuprofen religiously for the next several days.

2.Ice that lateral aspect of your knee and upper tibia/fibula area 3 times a day for at least 20 minutes or ice massage that area 10-15 minutes 3 times a day.

3. Continue foam rolling.

4. Stop running immediately when any pain was felt.

5. Continue to KT tape it.

And

6. Target that gluteus medius like CRAZY!!! (My favorite exercises by far for this are "monster walks" and "donkey kicks.")

LOVE YOU, SSF!! Hope you are enjoying your week!!! :) :) :)

Sounds like you're getting lots of great advice.

How did Larry hurt his ankle?

From RAD on Tue, Nov 20, 2012 at 20:41:29 from 67.171.119.50

I'm with QP, no hot tub this time of year calls for a can of gas and some matches :) AND I wish I could do Turkey day with my sisters!

Sorry that dang knee is buggin' still :( I wish I could make it all better, but Teena gives some great unsolicited advice!

From Smooth on Wed, Nov 21, 2012 at 12:24:23 from 173.227.56.178

QP ~ you made me laugh! I wish you could spend Thanksgiving with your sisters too. This is the first time I spend Thanksgiving with my sister. She is a gourmet cook! :). Larry loves her cooking! I just love my sister! :)

SSF ~ I will follow your advice the best way I know how! Thank you! Love you lots! :)

Dale ~ we don't know how he hurt it. It seems to happen once or twice a year! The ankle is swollen.

Rachell ~ have fun on your thanksgiving run and I will miss out on your black friday run!
