Long-Term Running Goals:

Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

For 12/12/12 I thought about running 12 miles. That thought lasted for 12 seconds! :) I was up at 12:12am this morning (er was it last night) praying and thanking the Lord for 12 specific blessings! ;)

Wendy, Karen and I ran easy chatty miles heading east first into the wind and a beautiful sunrise. Hubby peeled off after 1 mile. We got on the canal trail from Smith's trail to avoid the tunnel. The lateral side of the right leg complained from mile 2 on. But the conversation and wonderful company helped take the edge off. Every time Karen stopped to tie shoe or take little rock out, I would keep walking and that seemed to work better so the knee won't lock up. After saying goodbye to Karen at the corner, she ran home while Wendy and I walked home! How blessed I am to have such wonderful friends! :)

We decided to not go to the pool today so that gave me time to do some thorough foam rolling, stretching and core exercises. So surprised to discover during the foam rolling that my left leg particulary the calf has much more knots (pain) than the right (the "injured" one). I realize I had been babying the right leg and neglected the "good" leg. And the fact that just because there is no pain while running doesn't mean "all is well" with the body! Wow! I need to be more diligent with the little things that is so important to help the body recover especially at my age where I am loosing flexibility, muscle strength and overall fitness!

Oh! I took a 12 min shower ending at 12:12 and proceeded to give hubby 12 kisses! :)

Happy 12/12/12 to all!!! :) :) :)

I replied to your post on the 13th at 8:15 am, how lucky is that. Tell me that when you roll your injured leg that you also roll your other leg?

I saw that you went to the TM class on Monday!! Isn't it so much fun? That class is something I miss and other gyms do not offer that class anywhere!

I am here in Utah and I have been running on the TM because I am a pansy when it comes to running outside.

I like that you thought about running 12 today... It was a good thought but you still got some good miles in.

So Smooth, have you taken a few days to let your knee rest? I sure hope it's feeling better.

Rhett ~ I have not run for 5 days since 12/12/12. I sure hope it heals up because I have 26.2 miles to walkie joggie (a term I borrow from Kathie) on 12/22/12. :)

Bec ~ the TM class was SO fun! I will definitely go back as soon as my leg lets me! :). I am so bummed that I missed you once again while you're in UT. We are flying to Housfon tomorrow!

Enjoy the Utah snow and have a ton of fun this holiday with your sweet family. :)

Hope your trip here goes well. Not sure if I will make it out there or not on Saturday, my taper is not going very well and I am not sure whether to jog a half on Saturday or not. My friend Wade is running the half on Friday but I won't be out there then.
