Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Got a bad case of paronchia on my right tall finger! :(  Have never had that before in my life.  Did the warm epsom saline soak and antibiotic poinment but it throbbed and hurt so bad that I had to take couple of Tylenol to help me sleep.  Needless to say, didn't sleep well last night. :(

Went to the LC with hubby.  His left inside ankle is swollen and therefore can hardly walk.  Anyhow, there was a swim meet (Special Olympic of some sort) so the center was busy.  Ran 3 miles on the tm, warm up 10 min then did 1 min on/off till I hit 3 miles in 27min.  That is all I wanna do b/c hubby was waiting for me at the pool.  Swam 8 laps (5 free style, 3 backstroke).

Shopping.  Drove past Scheels and saw how crowded the parking lot was, we opted to go to Dillards for their sale instead where hubby bought couple pairs of swim shorts and I bought a shirt, 2 pr of pants and some crocs! :)

OUCH -- to the paronychia!!!! I hope that it gets better super fast!! You and Rylee must be on the same train: she hurt her right tall finger yesterday as well! Jammed it pretty badly playing basketball. It's super swollen and painful as well. :( :( :(

Nice job on the swim!!! You are getting better and better!!! :)

What did you decide about the shoes? That is a tough call for sure. Especially if they are bugging your arch and anterior tibial tendon. What does your gut tell you?

(Proud of you for getting some shopping done. I know you hate it.)

Luvs!

Btw, I went to Schell's today. It was CRAZY!

I've never heard of paronychia. I hope it feel better soon. It sound like you are becoming a great swimmer.

Ouch! Sometimes an easy day is all we can do on those sleepy days...that one I can sympathize with! :)

Yeah, I wouldn't have gone to Scheels if someone had paid me!

I LOVE your swimming!! Look at you becoming a fish!!

I'm glad your only big injury is your finger Smooth. You won't need that to run an amazing SGM! :) I hope it gets feeling better soon though so you can get some sleep. Wish Larry well for me too.

SSF ~ How's Rylee's finger? I bet it is all better now, right? Mine is starting to feel better, the redness and swelling is decreasing gradually.

I think I am going to go with the Elixir6 size 7 (a half size bigger). I find that the Elixir5 is roomier and I had no problem running in them last year. Eric's argument with the Inspire vs Elixir is that I need more stability/cushion or risk another stress fracture. My gut feeling tells me that I am not running as much now so there's less muscle fatigue and hopefully with more efficient foot strike, my bones will hold out.

Nancy ~ paronchia is the medical term for infection of the finger around the nails. There are numerous nerve endings in our fingers, the swelling (from the infection) causes bad throbbing pain.

RAD ~ Not a fish. I stopped at the end of every lap to rest plus I alternate every other lap with a back float/stroke to recover! AND I practice in a 3 ft deep pool where the lap is shorter (about 18m) than the regulation pool. :)

Rhett ~ thanks for wishing me and Larry well. You're a great friend. My finger is getting better, not completely healed but getting there. :)
