Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Karen had to be at her daughter's futsal game this morning so we had a tight schedule.  She needed 15 miles.  I needed 17 and the rest of the gang needed 10-11.  So I started half hour earlier and ran 1 mile to Karen's house.  We ran 3+ miles together.  Got to Wendy's house where John (Zeus), Wendy and Carolyn were ready to join us.

Ran up to Alpine with a stop at the fountain of youth.  To not loose track of time I wanted to keep a 9:30-9:45 pace and not stop the watch even when waiting for traffic and at the drinking fountain.  Temp was in the high teens, calm, partly sunny.  Fingers were frozen for 16+ miles...should've worn ski mittens!!! :)  Got Karen back in time! Success!!! :) Didn't even know my face was chocolate-Gu-smeared 'till I got home and hubby got an *extra sweet* kiss! :)

17.5 miles in 2:43:43.  AP: 9:29.  Splits: 11:31 (waited for Karen outside her home), 10:09, 9:43, 9:28, 9:25, 9:23, 10:04 (traffic light and beginning of uphill) 9:31 (not bad for uphill), 9:06, 8:55, 9:31, 9:51 (gu'd & pit stop), 9:00, 8:44, 8:48, 9:30 (traffic light), 8:55, 8:21.

Glad I got in a 50+ miles week since the week in Texas with the grandkids will be a step down week! :)

From Toby on Sat, Jan 28, 2012 at 21:19:16 from 199.101.229.254

HOW in the heck are you running 17 miles on 4.5 hours of sleep? Nicely done on getting everyone on track!

I need to do 16 miles next Saturday and I'm not sure I want to do it on the TM - what do you need to run?

From Andy on Sat, Jan 28, 2012 at 22:49:53 from 174.52.172.236

SSF ~ I am leaving on Fri 2/3 and retrun Mon 2/13. You think my Primary kids gonna miss me for two Sundays? :)

Flat ~ I can't wait. Hope the forest trail is not too muddy and slippery though...my knees are finally healed up. :)

Rachel ~ I think the gang was a little annoyed when I sort of ran laps around them. They will be glad when I'm not running with them the next two Sat. :)

Toby ~ I was fine until late aftnoon...zonked out in front of the TV while folding laundry...dead to the world! :)

I need 18...but I will be in Texas nex Sat. My daughter and grand daughter will be running a local 5K so I will be running with them. I may run 16 on Fri (the day I fly to TX) depending on how

organized I'll be. The following Sat 2/11 will be my LONG run of 26.2+ in the Huntsville State Park.

Running outside with company is so much easier and better than the dreadmill. I will see what

Karen wants to run. May be you girls can get a

group run going. Stay tuned!

Andy ~ thanks! We've been fortunate to have such great weather to train in! Boston will be here before we know it!

Nancy ~ thanks! Having fun with the grandkids is what keeps us young huh! :)

Slick ~ you are tapering for Surf City. Those 27 miles are just a shake down so you can rock it next Sunday in sunny California! :)

From Teena Marie on Sun, Jan 29, 2012 at 14:16:14 from 174.27.219.206

YES!!! Your primary kids will definitely definitely definitely miss you!!! What time are you leaving Friday?

From Smooth on Sun, Jan 29, 2012 at 14:23:29 from 75.162.95.99

I think my flight is at 5pm.

From Teena Marie on Sun, Jan 29, 2012 at 14:35:52 from 174.27.219.206

Are you going to do a long run on Friday? Maybe I could switch labs and go to the early one so that I could be done by 9:30 a.m. and run it with you (if you want).

From Smooth on Sun, Jan 29, 2012 at 14:50:37 from 75.162.95.99

That will be AWESOME!!! I will LOVE it!!!! And then we can go to lunch afterwards! :) :) :)

From Teena Marie on Sun, Jan 29, 2012 at 15:18:07 from 174.27.219.206

AWESOME!!! :) :) :)

I will see if I can switch labs for just this Friday! I am 99.999% sure that I can and we can then meet somewhere to run (and then go to lunch). Is 10:15ish going to be too late for you though?

From Smooth on Mon, Jan 30, 2012 at 20:24:21 from 75.162.95.99

SSF ~ I need to be done or home by 1pm. How many miles are you running?

From Steam8 on Mon, Jan 30, 2012 at 20:39:31 from 166.70.55.77

50+ week!!!!! Wow..great job Smooth! You are running in the teens??? Why are you running so early? yuck! So cute and funny about your husband and the chocolate GU! I love it!

From Smooth on Mon, Jan 30, 2012 at 21:20:45 from 75.162.95.99

Steam ~ we had to run early because my running buddy had to be home early for her daughter's game! :) Sat. was a very cold day.

Hubby loved the kiss; but said nothing about my smell! Hehehe!!!

How's your training for Boston coming along? Going over to your blog now!
