Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!! 

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Laz around in bed and just enjoyed the sunrise.  Ran around the block with hubby sans watch.  I love our leisure run until he started to repeat what Eric told me last night!  I know they love and care about me....but I'm so hard headed! Sigh!

Swim lesson #2.  I kept telling myself:  "People don't drown in swimming lessons.  If dogs can swim, so can I!"  It helps half the time.  However, I flunked floating 101 majorly!!!!  SO pathetic!!!  I swallowed at least a gallon of water...yuck.  I was able to flutter kick w/ a kick board 20 ft across on the deep end with face down and not panic or gasp for air.  But across 40 ft had my heart going wild and breathing crazy! 

Barely made it home, quickly showered, went to babysit Olga's children, age 7, 5, 2.  We had so much fun playing ball, dance dance dance, hide-n-seek, space ranger... I need a nap now! :) :) :)

What does floating have to do with swimming? I don't float very well but like to swim.

I was thinking of you today as I swam and how much you are going to LOVE swimming when you get the hang of it.

Glad you got out for a little run, but I gotta say...sounds like swimming gets your HR up higher and faster than running! So, maybe you need to run more and swim less :D hehehe (don't tell Larry or Eric I said that!!)

That is great that you are conquering a new challenge learning how to swim. You are amazing Smooth. I hate to be part of the "don't run crowd", but if your son who is a podiatrist says not to run...

I think it is great that you are learning to swim. I didn't realize how hard swimming was until I started to train for my triathlon. I could only do 1 lap and then had to lay on the side for 1 minute before I could do another lap. Before that I thought I was a good swimmer.

Teena ~ so funny when I tried to relax floating on my back, I sunk like an anchor! My little swim teacher tried hard not to laugh! :)

Fly ~ good question! I dunno! Except I prefer floating than sinking or submerging 'cause I am not a submarine nor a fish. :)

RAD ~ WHEN will I get the hang of it is the big question. Seriously, it is a hard thing for me.

I was thinking the same when my HR and breathing was going so fast that it was wearing my heart out more than running would. I sure hope my little swim instructor knows CPR.

Kelli ~ I was actually a big chicken!!! The swim teacher, Samantha (16 yo daughter of my hubby's executive secretary) was the one who called (texted) me to set up swim lessons with her. I may be her first student to get an F.

Yep, my body is telling me NO and I just won't quit. I am so stubborn and hopelessly addicted to marathons. AND yes the song you posted today is GREAT and SO FITTING!!!! :)

Smooth, If you want to float, gain 100 lbs and you will float like a cork. If that idea doesn't float your boat, try Great Salt Lake. I only sink in Great Salt Lake when I exhale completely. To float in the pool, inhale as much as possible and breath shallowly. This will only help keep your chest and head above, my legs still sink....
