Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Lazy recovery day.  Ran with Mary for 4 miles.  She was so sore from Sat. SF1/2 that she didn't run on Mon.  So it's good we both pushed each other out for a recovery run; more for the psyche than anything.  We talked strategy for TOU.  I think she's gonna do great for her first marathon.

Around the world core, fast abs, abductor lifts (40 reps)

Hubby bought the TV he wanted badly yesterday.  I put on the yoga DVD.  Holy cow, it was like Rodney Yee was in my living room doing yoga on the beach with me.  So relaxing.  Did I mention I was lazy?

No soreness or weirdness.  I'm gonna run 9 miles tomorrow at 9:09 pace in honor of Kathie's birthday (hint: the 2 numbers adds up to be 9 and she's not turning 27) on 9/9/09 and finish by 9am.   Number 9 in Chinese means longivity...a very lucky number.  The next best number is 8, fast or prosperous.  Teena, 1+7=8; how's that for your favorite #17?

Nice job Smooth, way to get out and get some good recovery in! So...you've got the 'life-sized TV' too? Funny men, they always need something bigger! SO happy no soreness or weirdness - especially after such an AMAZING weekend! Good luck with your 9's tomorrow! :)

Nice job Smooth. Your legs have been busy. I hope I get to meet you at TOU.

I love that you had Rodney Lee in your living room this morning due to the new TV! You make me laugh. What is the TOU strategy for your friend, do tell, I love to hear your opinion on these things.

I love you 9-9-09 run idea, I will for sure put in 9 miles too!

Rachel ~ That TV is a monster. What is it with men and their TV and football watching. AND yesterday he signed up for cable without my blessing too. He took advantage of my post-race weakness. :) The sad thing is we have a TV in every room of the house and he is never home to watch any of it. He says he needs cable to watch BYU football. Silly men!

Leslie ~ I need to get me a new DVD. Rodney in speedo on the beach gets old.

Mark ~ Trust me, you'll get to be my age one day! I have no soreness 'cause I don't have massive muscles like you to get sore. :)

Kristi ~ 6 = fortune or lucky or road. 2 = easy; and we all know 1 = NUMBER ONE! So your b'day numbers are AWESOME!

Kathie ~ HAPPY the day before your BIRTHDAY! I am so excited for you. Sorry I can't come to your party. I have to go to this concert by some country music star. I think he's Nicole Kidman's husband. I'm not a fan of country music. But I have to support my hubby because his new boss is hosting this concert and we HAVE to go. Bummer!

jun ~ I hope to meet you in person too. I am terrible with names and faces. You will have to say hello if you see me, a very short Chinese woman!

From Smooth on Tue, Sep 08, 2009 at 16:05:39 from 71.36.81.201

Bec ~ You don't need any strategy; you are at elite level already.

Our strategies are for first-timer. Mary is competitive though, so she just needs to not go out too fast and crash. She's gonna carry her cell-phone so I can connect w/ her to run those never ending miles after she's out of the canyon.

You will DO GREAT! I'm rooting for you to PR. :)

. . .AND you had 9 comments before I left this one! (sorry to make it 10 now) . . .you are too funny Smooth, I hope you have a fabulous 9 mi run tomorrow, and am so glad you had a lazy day today, even though I'm sure your lazy is someone elses pretty busy day! :) congrats on the new TV . . . . I think it's totally worth it and justified if your Hubby got it solely to watch BYU!!!! Yeah, GO COUGARS!!! I had my 3 yr old wear his BYU shirt today and we got stopped many times shopping by passerby's cheering on the Y!!! Have a great run tomorrow!

Smoothi,

Glad you had such a great recovery run. And Rodney Yee virtually in your home ... not sure Prez will approve of his attire!!! :)

I love the new concept for what 17 could stand for!! It is the greatest number in the world!!!

I miss you. We need to get together. I hate being so busy. Need to figure something out for sure!!!

Amber ~ GO COUGARS! Hubby is on cloud 9 after getting his monster TV and cable to watch his beloved Cougars. Hey, doesn't take much to make him or any guy happy, does it! I can just picture your little boy in his Y shirt and getting the woohoos!

Teena ~ So glad you called. I just had this uneasy feeling and the worry got bigger and bigger until your call. Wish I lived closer!

Yes, we need to get together soon! LLL LLL LLL LLL LLL LLL LLLL
