Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

 

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!! 

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Met at Wendy's house dark and early.  Beth thought we were meeting at 5am (the text message says 5mi at 6am); so she was done running when we got there.  Mary, Wendy, Stephanie and I headed east, almost 1 mile into the run a few deer ran across 1200 East.  A baby fawn got hit by a car.  Mary called the police with her cell.   The poor bambi was still alive.  

My legs felt pretty good after the warm up so decided to pick up the pace and tempo the rest home.   Could have run a couple more; but decided to go back for the group and finish up with them.

5.25 mi in 48:00.  Splits: 10:47, 9:56, 8:57, 8:08, 8:08, 8:10.  AP: 9:09

How sad about the baby deer. I'd hate to have seen that. You are so speedy in the morning! I am so bad about doing tempo's or interval training. Your work outs are just such an inspiration.

The poor thing was so little, we thought it was a yellow lab with really long legs. It laid there in the middle of the two lanes narrow road. We didn't want to move it for fear that it would kick us. We have a lot of deer around here and they always come out very early in the morning.

Bec ~ Yep, the ladies are training so well, and ready for SGM. Mary is doing her very first marathon at TOU. So we're running a 20 miler with her at Provo Canyon on Sat. I will probably do 18. A whole bunch of us are doing SF1/2 next Sat. Then another 20 miler the week after that before tapering for SGM. I need to run smart and not get injured the next few weeks.
