Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

That is so cool that you ran to vote.

From Rhett on Wed, Nov 04, 2009 at 12:12:13 from 74.41.249.102

If you didn't have at least a little soreness coming off the marathon, I'd think you were inhuman.

From Teena on Wed, Nov 04, 2009 at 12:34:57 from 155.99.202.62

Hey SSF!!!

Did you decide on joing the gym?

You know you can come to my house whenever you want. Just put your vehicle on auto pilot and take a little nap! ;)

Let's at least go elliptical/arc trainer shopping so you can make an informed decision.

I am sorry you are in pain...cross training really does help, I hope you find something that works for you.

Smooth- What are your plans for T-Day? running plans that is?

From RAD on Wed, Nov 04, 2009 at 14:55:43 from 76.27.12.70

always impressive! Physical and civic duty all in one shot! I find that the bike, either upright or recumbent usually helps my soreness the most. That's why I love the gym, I can do whatever floats my boat that day!

From Smooth on Wed, Nov 04, 2009 at 16:39:04 from 174.23.240.142

Paul ~ Actually I JOGGED (not ran) to vote! Didn't want to be a "stick bomb" to the lady voting judges who know me too well already.

Rhett ~ I know, I know. I remember you telling me to "respect the marathon" and I do! I LOVE the soreness...I'm pathetically addicted!

Kathie ~ I need you to be my personal trainer.

Julie ~ I want to do a Turkey Trot. Just not sure which one. The family is going down to Spanish Fork this year instead of Gunnison. So I'll have time to run a race in the morning. What's your plan? Are you racing any Turkey Trot? Which one?

Rachel ~ I might just have to bite the bullet and join some kind of gym. Wish I had a buddy to do it with! Too bad you live so far.

From leslie peterson on Wed, Nov 04, 2009 at 16:57:55 from 76.23.61.78

anything you do is a plus, I think you deserve some down time after 3 marathons Plus in one month!!! Nice girly!!!

From JulieC on Wed, Nov 04, 2009 at 17:03:38 from 65.103.228.126

I am running the Orem 4 mile Turkey trot, with a four mile warm up and a four mile cool down. I ran the Fleet Feet 5 k last year but Kim wants to go longer, not that .9 miles is much longer. It is also a better course.

From Smooth on Wed, Nov 04, 2009 at 17:14:32 from 174.23.240.142

That sounds like a good one. I might do that since it's close to home.

I know you'll win a turkey for sure!

From Kelli on Wed, Nov 04, 2009 at 19:35:56 from 71.219.97.106

How are you feeling today Smooth? Hope the soreness is a little better. you are such a little machine, you never cease to impress me!!!

From Huans32 on Thu, Nov 05, 2009 at 09:39:39 from 138.64.2.76

Hope your feeling better Smooth. Great job on the race. 60 by 60 is getting closer.:)

You have earned that soreness and deserve a massage (my answer to everything). I hope you have good recovery. I'll bet having an elliptical or stationary would help a lot. There is a place near the Albertsons in Provo (University Prkwy) that sells really inexpensive, but great excersize equipment. I got a pretty good stationary bike for $200 and you can get a good elliptical for around $400. During the winter I can not live without my treadmill or the bike. They work great in front of the TV, that way anyone who wants to watch TV has to be on one or the other. If I could, I'd even get rid of my couches. You'll be feeling limber and fresh again soon.

Did you think about the LC? If you have any more questions about just let me know. I think that you could really motivate a lot of people down there.

From leslie peterson on Thu, Nov 05, 2009 at 15:22:03 from 76.23.61.78

Just dropped by to say HI, I hope you are out doing fun things and enjoying this great fall weather!!!!

From Smooth on Thu, Nov 05, 2009 at 23:16:36 from 174.23.240.142

Kelli ~

THANK YOU for thinking of me! The soreness is about all gone. I'm just "coasting" along.

Mark ~

So good to hear from you. Yah, I'm going to be 60 before I know it. Not sure about the 60 by then though. I will have to run minimum of 7 a year to make it...not likely to happen.

Luz ~

That's IT! A MASSAGE! It's been a year since I've had one! Wow! You sure know how to find a bargain on those equipments. I need to find one that fit my "petite" frame. That's the DISadvantage of being Asian. I LOVE your idea of NO couches in front of the TV. Can you believe we have 6 TVs in the house and there are currently 4 people living in it.

Bec ~

I think the LC is a great idea. I just need to go and do it.

Leslie ~

THANKS for dropping by. You are so kind! It was hard work chasing a 2 yr old. I felt OLD today! I don't know how these young mothers do it!
