Long-Term Running Goals:

Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Nice and EZ with Karen.  My knee was and is still bugging.  Karen's achilles was bugging.  STINK!!!

Saw Wendy with a mile to go!  Took her home to find some ski boots and skis for her.  She and her honey are skiing on Wed.  I'm jealous! :)

Spend the afternoon taking Steven to get his Typhoid immunization; then shopping for mission clothes and stuff.  We are now broke! :)

I'm sure you'll receive a lot of blessings going broke getting your son ready for his mission. Nice job with the running, hope the knee cooperates.

Nancy ~ You are SO right...lotsa blessings...Steven is our last of 5 sons to go on a mission!

It is actually cheaper to keep a child on a mission then feeding, clothing, insuring and educating one at home! :)

I am sorry that your knee is still bugging you. :(

You are such a good mamma! I am certain that Stephen is grateful.

(Btw, I have an extra case of Top Ramen if you need it. :))

SSF ~ Top Ramen!!! Laughing so hard!!! :D :D :D :D

Steven IS grateful! He's such a good boy! I caught him studying the scriptures in the mornings! He's also practicing his Mandarin! It was easy to shop for him...most things fit him...unlike his brothers! :)

I love you, SSF! Lots! :)

LOVE you too, SSF!!! :) :) :) :) :) :)

Wish you could have met Elder Gong and spoke to him eye to eye! :)

Btw, his nephew is going to the same mission as Steven and reporting to the MTC on the same day! Cool, huh!

From Teena Marie on Mon, Mar 07, 2011 at 23:37:34 from 67.2.100.67

That is way cool!!!! :)

Ryan and I were both so impressed with how down-to-earth and unpretentious he was. :)

Hope your knee gets better. Why not do some elliptical? It will keep your cardio up.

From flatlander on Tue, Mar 08, 2011 at 12:16:36 from 198.207.244.102

Congrats on your missionary. That's a good way to go broke, but I hope you have some stashed away for Boston!

From Smooth on Tue, Mar 08, 2011 at 21:46:22 from 67.2.104.153

Paul ~ The knee is not going to get better unless I stop running altogether and let it heal properly. The elliptical is great idea! I tried it for couple of weeks in Jan when the patellar tendon was really inflamed! I could not get my heart rate up though. I am so stinking addicted to running! The elliptical just doesn't do it for me! I do like to use it for recovery!

Flat ~ The missionary expenditure was a drop in

the bucket...compare to what we paid on Sat. for the viola that our returned missionary son wanted! I could have bought 8 ellipticals

and many many years of Gold Gym's memberships! Sigh!!

Thankfully Hubby did budget for Boston! It's our anniversary trip!
