Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

You need a medal for all the things you accomplish in a day!!! You make me tired just thinking about it!

I hope you're enjoying your quiet maintenance runs! You'll have a blast in Texas (I hope). It is so warm there it inspires you to be outside this time of year.

From Smooth on Wed, Nov 18, 2009 at 18:42:09 from 174.23.240.142

Rachel ~ THANKS! Not much time to do anything else though.

Kathie ~ It wasn't tiring stuff; just have to set aside the time. Meetings are just looooong!!! The children do wear me out after 4 hours; but they are soooo cute!!!

Luzy ~ I hope my daughter has a stroller, so I can go for walks with my grand children while there. I am excited to see and play with them.

Hi Smooth, when are you taking off for Texas?

I need to try mittens, my pricey little running gloves aren't cutting it!!!

From Smooth on Wed, Nov 18, 2009 at 23:55:09 from 174.23.240.142

Hey Leslie ~

I'm taking off the day after Thanksgiving! Will be fun to see the grandkids.

I can't believe Thanksgiving is only a week away. I think it is my favorite holiday: all the family, a nice long weekend, good food, football, turkey trots, and much less stress than Christmas. Have fun with your grandkids Smooth.

How fun to go to Texas and be with your grand-kids!!! You really are amazing and you do so much in a day, , ,and devote a significant amount of your time to other people! You are an angel :)

Thanks for the info on the Boston, , , I can't believe how popular marathoning is becoming, , , , everyone's getting hooked! what a great thing to be addicted to though! you had an OVER-indulgence? . . I'm so glad I'm not the only one, , , I am constantly hungry lately and I am eating way too much! is it the cold weather? who knows but I need to get a grip!!! :) I love that you said you eat more than your husband, , , cuz I do too!!! I pack his lunches for him and he's always saying, "honey, that's way too much food for me!" - I just think he will be as hungry as I am in a day!

Amber ~

Yes, it will be so fun! I haven't seen my daughter and her cute little family for a year. I'm so excited. She and her husband are celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary by going on a cruise.

I'm the happiest when I'm blessed to have the time and means to be of help to others.

Yep, I'm one of those crazy marathon addicts. I seem to always eat a ton this time of year. It's probably a combination of cold weather, not training, not racing. It's embarrassing that I eat more than the guys! My hubby would have this huge grin on his face watching me eat. When I say: "What?" He'd say: "Nothing, I just love to watch you eat. It makes me happy to see you enjoy food so much!"

:o :D
