Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

School buses are out in full force this morning carrying all the excitement of 1st day back to school!

Ran with Wendy, Mary, Stephanie, Carolyn and Sue.  They reported all the aches and pains after their longest run last Sat.  I congratulated them on the well earned blisters and black toe nails.  We're all excited about running SF1/2 together.   I better mail my registration today.   We wish Sue luck at Hobble and me at PC this Sat.  Boy, it's gonna be a hot one!

Thursday is a strange day to start school isn't it? When is Spanish Fork?

From Smooth on Thu, Aug 20, 2009 at 12:24:08 from 70.56.101.54

It is strange! I guess the teachers like it!

Spanish Fork is Sept 5, two weeks from Sat.

From DonGardinero on Thu, Aug 20, 2009 at 12:39:07 from 75.162.161.62

God job, Smoothie.

I personally think it's a good idea when school starts mid-week. It give the teachers and students a chance to ease back into it.

Are you going to carry a water bottle on Saturday at PC? I read on their website that they encourage it and they say you can fill it up at the aid stations. I WAS going to brings mine. Can't wait to see you. Are you taking tomorrow off from running?

From Smooth on Thu, Aug 20, 2009 at 12:49:42 from 70.56.101.54

Thanks Dale! I'm not planning on carrying a water bottle. I don't have a hand held one. Yes, I'm taking tomorrow off from running. We are heading to the cabin tomorrow to shop at the outlet stores. I'm excited to see you and your family. Are you staying at the Newpark Hotel?

From DonGardinero on Thu, Aug 20, 2009 at 12:51:04 from 75.162.161.62

Smoothie...Yep, we will be staying at the Newpark for one night only. Have fun shopping.

Looks like great weather for PC -- 59 at the start and low humidity. I'd love that! Good luck, Smooth!

Marc,

Yah, that's perfect weather for YOU coming from the humid South. It's too warm for me. Two years ago was perfect, starting temp was in the low 40's.

Kelli,

Wish you could be there too. Have fun cheering the gang. You're not running it, are you?

Teena,

GOOD LUCK at Hobble! I'll be thinkin' of ya. LLL LLL LLL LLL

Leslie,

Tonight after picking up the bag from WRC, we went to RCWilley and bought patio furnitures. Got some nice ones with a sweet deal since it's end of the summer. Have to borrow a truck to pick them up tomorrow at 10 though; so not heading to Park City as early as I'd like.

Paul,

Thanks! Same to you!!!

Kimmy,

You are so nice! Best of luck to you at Hobble too! I will be thinking of you and Kathie dualing it out! :)

Kathie,

Thanks! Same to you! I'll do my best. The warm temp has me a little worry though.

Rachel,

That's for sure!

Allie,

THANKS! Have fun with your run in Logan.

Good luck tomorrow my dearest Smooth!!!

I am so sad that I won't be there to see you run in. Wait ... what time does your race start? When will you be running in? Maybe I can make it there. Ahhh ... doubt it though ... Hobble Creek doesn't start until 7:15 and I want to make sure to be there when Annie and Nic run in. So that could put me at about 9:45ish. Then driving to Park City ... how long would that take? Probably not doable, huh?

You have Charlie under control, right? We don't need any more grimacing pictures! I love you ... will be thinking about you the whole time. Have a wonderful race!!!

Can't wait to see the new patio furniture. I'm sure it is fabulous!!

From Kelli on Fri, Aug 21, 2009 at 11:19:54 from 71.219.64.200

NO----as much as I really want to and am tempted, I am not going to run. It is KILLING me!!!

Best of luck tomorrow, have fun!!!

From marion on Fri, Aug 21, 2009 at 12:10:01 from 71.213.121.129

GOOD LUCK tomorrow!!! You are going to do GREAT!! :) Be safe and have FUN! Oh yeah- and KICK SOME BUMMM!!!

From Maurine/Tarzan on Fri, Aug 21, 2009 at 12:25:24 from 63.255.172.2

Good luck tomorrow! I am glad I am starting early with the expected heat. It means gloves and sleeves at first - but cold is so much better than heat for running.
