Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Should have thrown this week's schedule out the window.  This morning's MLR did not go well.  Very tired to begin with.  Never got in a good rhythm.  Stopped numerous times to stretch.  ITB is very mad at me!  Ran 1/2 outside with Wendy & Carolyn; the other 1/2 at home on the TM as I was having GI issues again...hubby took the entire family, 9 adults, 1 senior and 1 child to UP-Chuck-a-rama...everyone loved it except me.

Off to the store to buy food, taking dinner to my visiting-teachee who's having surgery on her foot today.  Then laundry and pack for our trip to Yellowstone tomorrow!  May be no running the next few days to let the ITB and hip flexors calm down!

You should throw the schedule out the window this week. You ran a marathon on Saturday! Just because you didn't get a t-shirt and medal doesn't mean that it was not a marathon. Enjoy your run-free vacation while your body recovers.

From Rhett on Tue, Jul 27, 2010 at 14:57:56 from 74.32.211.9

I agree with Andy. Have fun in Yellowstone and be safe. If you do go running, take bear spray. :)

From RAD on Tue, Jul 27, 2010 at 15:19:36 from 67.172.229.125

Yes, take the vacation off and let those things heal!! Then you don't have to worry about the bears :)

Oh, as a side note - Craig and I can't WALK into chuck-a-rama without having GI issues, I say avoid it like the plague :)

From Doone on Tue, Jul 27, 2010 at 16:54:36 from 74.36.34.151

All I can say is that you are in perfect shape to out run a bear this year. All of your hard work will pay off for sure. When you get back you and Teena can start planning your next midnight marathon as you work your way to becoming race directors of a whole new category of racing!!!

You are the best. Thanks for the SSF post. I wasn't even close. Don't let Larry get eaten by a bear or trampled by a bison, I like him.

Have a great trip!

You are an animal!!! Have fun in Yellowstone.

From Nancy on Tue, Jul 27, 2010 at 18:31:28 from 76.27.19.206

You run enough that I think it would be good for you to take a couple of days off while you are in Yellowstone. My family calls Chuck-a-rama Up-chuck-arama also but I really love to eat there.

From fly on the Wall on Tue, Jul 27, 2010 at 18:39:44 from 204.113.19.47

Ahh nice and cool Yellowstone. Early morning lows for West are predicted to be in the very low 40s :) Throw the plan out the window for a week and just have fun and enjoy some easy and short runs in the cool weather. Then tell us about it so we can be jealous.

Your hubby likes to eat dangerously!

I agree, this is a good week to shut it down. You'll be glad of it next week. You are doing great. I sense Chuck-a-Rama is not your first choice for dining out?

From Smooth on Wed, Jul 28, 2010 at 23:55:36 from 69.20.178.98

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. Why is it so hard to not run?

We drove all day today. After returning from Jackson Hole arriving at our friend's house at 8:30 pm, I wanted to go for a short run. But it started lightening, thunder and pouring. Hubby wouldn't let me go. Tomorrow and Friday will be lots of walking in Yellowstone... No running...sigh!

From Teena Marie on Thu, Jul 29, 2010 at 14:25:42 from 174.52.45.85

SSF~

You know what I think! Enjoy your vacation ... no running until Saturday. I know you won't listen ... but that's what I think.

I love you!

So give us an update, what did you do Saturday....run yes, run no?

From MrsFIT on Sat, Jul 31, 2010 at 21:11:31 from 98.202.0.57

So, did you run into Yogi and Boo Boo while you were in Yellowstone? I love that park!

From AmberG on Sat, Jul 31, 2010 at 21:19:21 from 75.162.144.246

Smooth, I cant' wait to hear about your trip to Yellowstone! . . . and yes I can't wait to hear if you ran. . . or not. . . that is the question! :)

From Smooth on Sun, Aug 01, 2010 at 17:24:17 from 174.23.218.43

Slick ~ Yep, I ran! Was a much happier camper when I do!

Kristi ~ We spotted a grizzly; but was raining hard and we couldn't pull over. Yellowstone is just awe-inspiring!

Amber ~ The answer is obvious! I am addicted to running! :) Wish I had more time to run more or run faster so I can get more done! :) MORE MORE MORE! I sound like a 2 yo! :)
