Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

The knees' owies still oozing, sore, swollen and red.  So I opted to run on the TM  wearing shorts, watching the movie, Running the Sahara .  After the initial warm up miles, I STOPPED the TM to go turn on the ceiling fan.  NOT gonna make the absent-minded mistake of stepping on a moving TM again!  :) :) :)  We've also moved the elliptical a little ways from the TM yesterday.

Cannot believe the Spring like rain we're having.  Sat. forecast for St. George is looking good.  With the banged up knees and a head cold, I'm just going to enjoy running SG Half and not worry about time.

Scene of Monday's TM accident.  Space btw the TM and elliptical is widened a little.

Ceiling fan switch is on the wall around the TM.

I think someday I need to come and ellip while you run so I can have my cake and eat it too! :) I'm envious of your awesome mini gym!!

Can't wait to see you Saturday. I hope those knees feel better by then and that you can enjoy the race! I'll be waiting at the finish :) Oh, I also noticed that the 5K starts 10 min earlier than the half - so I even get a head start! Now I KNOW I'll finish before you :)

I really like your home gym. I hope your knee feels better.

Just saw the picture of your poor knees. :( :( :(

How are you feeling this late afternoon/evening?

Something icky must be in the air ... Annie was in a car accident last night and got whiplash. She is so sore right now and is also worrying about the half.

Rachel ~ you can come workout with me in my humble home gym anytime you want. I can watch Baby Fartlek or we can put on a movie for him while we exercise and chat away! It will be so fun! :)

and yes, you will finish WAY ahead of me! I am so excited you will be there to cheer me in! :)

Nancy ~ thanks! The home gym is more for my hubby. I wanted am upright bike and an elliptical that has shorter stride but he wants a comfortable recumbent bike and the elliptical is a steal of a deal. But they will do for recovery. I will only run on the TM if I cannot run outside which isn't very often! :)

SSF ~ I am crossing my fingers that the knee wounds are not infected! The right one is particularly red and warm to touch. My head cold is only bad when I first get up in the morning...some nasal congestion and headache!

I am sorry Annie was in a car accident! Hope she is ok! Are you going to be pacing or race your own on Sat.? Love and miss you too!

SSF~

Stupid treadmill belt!!!! Annie is okay. Just a bad headache and super stiff muscles. :( :( :( She is on muscle relaxers right now but is going to try to go without them this evening.

I am only pacing if one of the pacers who is in my pacing abilities doesn't show up. If everyone comes then I will likely race it. I am not in tip top racing condition but feel like I am getting stronger every day. I would love to know exactly where my fitness level is right now. :)

Your workout room is so cute Smooth!! I hope your knee feels better and I most definitely agree. Just have fun this weekend and enjoy being around friends. Races are so much more fun that way anyway. :)

Love the gym and hope your knees are better by now. It takes me forever to heal these days.

Dreadmills are "Devil Machines" and they should be cast out where they can't hurt good people! Good luck at the SG 1/2.....make it as fun as you can!

From Smooth on Mon, Jan 23, 2012 at 13:59:06 from 75.162.95.99

Rachelle ~ Amen! I'm all about having fun at races especially with the ones that so many of our friends are participating in!

Flat ~ It takes me forever to heal these days too. I must be getting older! :)

Slick ~ I hear ya! The *Devil Machines* and I are not on good terms at all. :)

I had a TON of fun at the SG 1/2!!! Can't wait for the next Runner Series race! :)
