Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Yesterday I overdressed so today I wore shorts but should've worn capri as it's cooler this morning with the wind at 20mph.  Did the walk/run/2min/12min with the girlfriends.  We went west and south to 3rd west then up on rail trail.  Going east uphill on 3200N was tough with the headwind.  Got to Karen's house at mile 5.58 in 1 hr. right at the end of the run cycle.  I went in her house to admire her new wood floor while Carolyn and Wendy kept going.  When I came out, they were 0.25 mile ahead so I picked it up to catch them (felt good to run faster) and ran the last 0.25 mile home together.  6.5 miles in 1:08:20.  AP: 10:31.  The last 1.5 mi was 9:30...wahoo!!! :)

House painting project is coming along.  Today we'll finish up the small hallway and the three doors.  Will prep the laundry room and Larissa's room.  Hopefully we'll get it done before company comes on Thursday.  :)

Nice job on the run.

Painting is no fun. I still need to paint the hallways and door frames. Some day I'll get to it.

Things keep looking brighter and brighter!!! :) :) :)

Sounds like a good run. The painting sounds like a lot of work but I'm sure it will be worth it.

From Smooth on Tue, Mar 13, 2012 at 19:37:28 from 75.162.88.4

Dale, Nancy ~ painting itself is not too bad. It is the prep work, taping and touch up and clean up that is a pain. It has taken us 3 weeks but so worth it. The house looks new and clean! :)

I love, love, love this! Good luck on the painting, that is always a big job! I agree that it is the prep and clean up and not so much the painting itself that is the hard part.

Smooth- RAD loves to paint, and so does her little "Warhol." She can bring him over to give you some help :-)

Nice job on the workout and that extra little speed work there at the end!

Did you run today?

From Smooth on Wed, Mar 14, 2012 at 14:36:55 from 75.162.88.4

Hi there SSF ~ No I didn't run today. I want to make sure I give my legs/feet a rest from pounding! I went to water aerobics instead! Thanks for checking in on me! :) Hope you are having fun in Vegas! :)

From Smooth on Wed, Mar 14, 2012 at 14:40:04 from 75.162.88.4

Rachel ~ I know you've done your share of painting and speak from experience! :)

QP ~ you are so funny! Yes, I might have to borrow RAD's little warhol when we paint the basement, hahaha! :)

Looks like you're running well Smooth. I hope that means the foot isn't giving you any problems.

From Smooth on Wed, Mar 14, 2012 at 15:13:22 from 75.162.88.4

Rhett ~ I am very grateful that the foot is healing and I can run albeit very slowly. :)

It is so hard to know how to dress! I have been having the same problem!!! Good luck with the house projects. They are what wears me out! Nice run today!!
