Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

 Week 17 to Boston

Ran w/ Karen to Alpine.  Beautiful sunny day.  Sky slowed us down a few times when she stopped to puke...must have been the steak bone she ate last night...poor thing.  The pain on the right knee intensified on the downhill.  I think it was a foolish thing to run 80 and 77 miles the last two weeks.

My SSF is a special special wonderful wonderful friend.  She knows my heart.  I am so grateful for her.  Wish I could help her half as much as she has helped me!

3 circuits of Pfitz's CSE while watching movie w/ my sweetheart!  :)

Ran w/ Karen (Sky) and Wendy to Alpine.  Took it slow.  Sore legs.  A little concern about the knee pain.

Julie, a friend of 40 years, called from Hong Kong.  (We are still on the phone as I type this).  For more than 3 hours we cried, laughed, cried while she poured her heart out to me.  I feel the pain of her loneliness across the world.  She is teaching me so much.  I shall live my life more worthy of the blessings I've been given.

Had a nice run with Karen.  Her son is coming home from serving a 2 yr. mission in Ghana tonight.  Can't wait to meet him.

Got home really late last night after the concert and then visiting with the newly returned missionary and his family.  It's a good thing his mom, Karen, is such a die hard, or I'd stay inside!  14 degrees brrrrrrrr!  It was a nice recovery run for us in more ways than one! :D

I found evidence that my youngest is home from College:  piles of laundry in the laundry room,  dirty dishes in the sink,  candy wrappers strewn about like confetti,  blankets and quilts on sofas in the family room...but where's the boy?  :) :) :) :) :)

So GLAD that my M.A.D (Made in America Daughter) aka RAD ran with me, curing my mild case of S.A.D. !!!  :) :) :) :) :)

After another late late night I would have slept in and hit the boring dreadmill on a snowy morning if it weren't for RAD coming all the way to my house to take me running!

Last night we went to the MoTab Christmas concert for the 2nd night.  I'm not much a fan of David Archuletta, but a HUGE fan of my son who plays viola in the Orchestra.  Anyway, it was a fantastic concert!  The snow storm hit Utah County as we drove my MIL home.   I-15 was a sheet of ice.  It took us an hour from the Point of the Mountain to reach Orem where we dropped off my MIL and then 45 min. to get home via State Street.  It was an exhaustive white knuckle drive.

I didn't think RAD would come to Lehi on a snowy morning...I should have known better!  She came all the way to my house after her spin class!  Is she superwoman or what!!!  I was looking forward to show her my running route and the Alpine's fountain of youth.  But due to slushy/icy road and traffic we decided to run in fresh fallen snow on the JRP instead.

I had forgotten how much work it is to run in 4-6 inches snow.  But RAD's company made it soooo fun! :)  We were *flying* down the trail when we heard gun shots; then saw gun fire smoke just as we reached the lake!!!  Navigating through thigh-high (for me, knee-high for RAD) snow drift was just plain giddy fun!!!! :D  Our agility and sense of balance were put to the test on some icy spots!  It goes to show that runners do not need snowshoes nor ice skates! ;)

TT: 2:32:30  AP: 10:10.  That may look slow to you but trust me, it's not! :)  It was great workout! We had loads of fun and great chats!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU, RAD!  I just love you!  I'm seriously in awe of all that you do! :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
