Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

AM:  Woke up with scratchy throat, congestion, foggy head.  Slept in.  Braved the wind, ice and crowd to do Christmas shopping.  I spent more time visiting with some old friends I saw in the store than actual shopping.  Everyone's getting crazy socks and candies!  Done!

PM:  Supposed to do 5 miles recovery.  Just didn't feel like running out in the wind; nor slogging on the TM w/ nothing good on TV.  So I did the "minutes workout":

Warm up 2 miles with increase of 0.1 increment every min from 5-7mph.  It took 10 min.  How convenient!

Then ran 20 repeats of 1 min up @ 8mph and 1 min down @ 6mph

Cool down 8 min with decrease of 0.2 increment every min from 7-6mph.

7.5 miles in 1:08:00.  AP: 9:03.

I really like this workout...simple and the time seems to fly.   I LOVE how all the numbers were nice and tidy today.

EVENING:  Perhaps I can do some yoga pose while wrapping presents tonight.   Or just veg. on the couch watching the Poinsettia Bowl w/ the fam.!  Go Utes!  Can't believe I'm saying that!  :D

HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVE'S EVE to y'all!

Nice job, Smoothie!!! I have a bunch of TM programs, but I haven't even tried any of them yet. Perhaps I should. I hope you're not coming down with something, too.

that does sound like a good work out and one to pass the time more quickly on the TM. I am with you with the scratchy throat...all this sugar eating is making it feel even worse. Got to think nutrition soon... Good work VP.

Dale ~ Go for it!

I think I'm coming down with a cold! Lotsa sniffles, sneezes and fogginess!

Julie ~ Didn't they say something about "feed the cold, starve the fever"? Yeah, neighbors been bringing goodies every hour and they're devoured before the next one shows up.

You noticed that ad. too!?! Yep I'm giving away one TM to every "NSAIRC" member. *;)

Kelli ~ It started out with getting running socks for Alex then time ran out or I was too tired and foggy headed to think any more. Crazy socks are FUN!

You'd like the 1 min on 1 min off workout!

oh no smooth, this sore throat has taken a turn for the worst, it is now turned viral as my entire throat is scratchy and pretty painful, geez one day from not running is taking me down. I am going to attempt a run here soon but it is moving to my head and usually this type of sore throat feels worse while running as it moves to my head. Hopefully I can fend it off, and my luck is not running out. There were several co-workers at work sick, including a dad visiting his baby ( a big no no). Lovely. I need the healing powers of a detox run :D. That is why I am up right now, the pain has wakened me and I awoke to a partially dissolved cough drop at the side of my mouth : (( Here's hoping.
