Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

After a long day of flying, finally arrived at Des Moines around 4:30.  The hotel is within quarter mile to the airport.  Eric and I went for a quick run before dinner.  It had rained the day before so a bit humid.  Looks like today's the only sunny day this week.

We had dinner at Waterfront Restaurant in Ankeny, a nice seafood restaurant.  Note to shubby, do not take a toddler to fancy restaurant! :)

Ms. Smooth, how are the shins? Have you been doing the RICE thing on them? The Stick and some gentle stretching? Of course you have. Hey baby, its only 15 days till the UVM....get rested, stay well and be ready for the run of your life!!!!!

From Rhett on Fri, May 27, 2011 at 13:32:26 from 74.32.222.239

Only 4 hours sleep. No wonder you don't have the energy to post anything about your run.

Rhett, that's how much sleep I get every night and it's definitely not easy.

Smoothie, don't be like me, get more sleep when you can. Hope everything is ok.

Hey coach ~ the shins are getting better each day! The right knee is still a bugger though! UVM is coming up fast and furious huh! I hope we have cool weather like last year then it will be great day! Either way I am going to have fun!

Rhett ~ I got 4 hrs sleep because I had to get up early to go to the airport! I am actually sitting around and eating out 3 meals a day while here in DES Moines! I am posting from my iPad and it won't let me post entry, only post comments! Larry and I got to the hotel around 5pm. So Eric and I went on a loop run around the hotel before dinner! Today(Fri.) the university hosted a picnic for the families of the graduates! I worked out at the hotel before heading to the picnic. It's been fun and relaxing.

Dale ~ I took lots of cat naps in between all the eating and fun activities...so it's all good! I am waiting for Eric to get back from his meetings on campus, then we are going for a short run around Gray's Lake! It is going to rain though so we'll see!
