Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Ate a bowl of cereal while cleaning up the kitchen and boiling a pot of potatoes, then dashed out for a cold morning run.  First 7.5 mi. on canal trail route.  Slow warm up.  Nice and toasty in 3 layers of clothes. :)

Second 7 mi on bench loop route.  Shed the middle fleece layer.  Ate a pkg Shot blocs.  Ran progressively faster...had to hurry home before heading to the Stake Center for a baptism (where Elder Cook presided and spoke) of 5 beautiful children! :)

Barely had time to finish making the cheesy potato after the baptism and rushed off to the Celebration of Christmas Concert at the Y.  Barely had time to rush back for the Ward Christmas party.  So glad I was able to get everything done today! :)

My eating has been really bad these days.  I'm a big tub of lard!

I love cheesy potatoes. Do you add ham to yours?

From Nancy on Sun, Dec 04, 2011 at 10:14:41 from 76.23.21.118

What a busy day and you were still able to run 14.5 miles, you are amazing.

SMooth, with all the running and running around you do, I'm sure you aren't a tub of lard. :)

Nice miles!

You sound BUSY!!!

Great job getting a big run in for the crazy day.

You aren't a tub of lard, even if you tried!

Cheesy potatoes sound really good. :)

I'm with Becca, you couldn't be a tub of lard if you tried. How about this...when you weigh as much as I do, then you can call yourself a tub of lard :)

I had a crazy busy Saturday too! But, yours seems more spiritually rewarding than mine was. What an awesome baptism!

The Elder Cook? Wow. I work with his brother at the Developmental Center. He's a doctor. So, funeral potatoes. Who died?

And you looked fit as a fiddle and then some last week. We all strive to be as lardless as you.

Nice job Smoothie...You, a tub o' lard? I don't think so. You weigh as much as one of my legs.

From Smooth on Mon, Dec 05, 2011 at 21:29:28 from 174.27.205.151

Maynard ~ I didn't add ham to my cheesy potatoes because the ward served ham! :) I use the best ingredients though!!! :)

Chad ~ yep, THE Elder Cook of the 12! :) My cheesy potatoes taste better than the funeral potatoes! It's gone in no time! no lie! :)

Thanks everyone for being so kind on my *lard-o-meter*. Seriously, I am at the heaviest since I started marathoning. With my 4'11" frame, every little oz. shows! eeek!! :)

From Chad on Tue, Dec 06, 2011 at 09:57:59 from 168.177.153.27

I actually love funeral potatoes so with yours being better ... yumm (my mouth is watering). I'm sure everyone had a wonderful treat.
