Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Beautiful cool crisp morning!  5 EZ recovery AP 9:56.  1 mi barefoot on TM.

6 circuits Pfitz core stability exercises.

Checked the PCM official race results and found that the two ladies in my AG who ran sub 4 were actually Halfers...so I got 2nd AG.

Really want to do a moonlight run again!  :)

Ha, you always do so better than you think.

From Jason McK on Tue, Aug 24, 2010 at 14:40:40 from 63.255.173.99

Moonlight sounds like fun! It has to be better than running just after the moon sets...

From Smooth on Tue, Aug 24, 2010 at 14:47:39 from 174.23.203.161

Yes, preferably start running when the moon rises. Love watching this big bright orange thing climb over the mountains. Then running by its light (no headlamp needed) in the quiet wee hours...so peaceful, so serene, so quiet!

From Rhett on Tue, Aug 24, 2010 at 16:11:05 from 74.32.211.152

I miss my runs through the still quiet of the night. Hopefully I'll be doing them again soon.

Smooth, I'm very impressed with how quickly you recover from 26.2 miles. Amazing.

We are staying at a friends house in Pocatello. We will be arriving around lunch time on Friday. We need to find some time to get together for lunch or dinner. I think Kathie and Kimmy are still running as well. Where are you staying? When are you arriving?

From Teena Marie on Tue, Aug 24, 2010 at 16:25:25 from 174.52.45.85

:) :) :) Very cool on the 2nd!!! :) :) :)

Also, amazing how you are back at it already.

Moonlight run??? I AM SO SO SO IN!!!! When? Where?

From Smooth on Tue, Aug 24, 2010 at 16:31:16 from 174.23.203.161

Rhett ~ Yes, you will be running in the still quiet night soon!

We are staying at the Hampton Inn just off exit 69. I will probably pick Larry up from work in downtown SL around noon; have lunch then drive up. We'll probably check in the hotel around 4pm. I would love to get together for dinner. So happy Kathie and Kimmy are still planning to run it.

Have you met Lowell? I'd love to introduce you to him.

From RAD on Tue, Aug 24, 2010 at 16:37:54 from 67.172.229.125

see...you DID win a marathon :)

Nice recovery work Smooth, can't believe you're ready for another so quickly!

From Nancy on Tue, Aug 24, 2010 at 16:56:41 from 76.27.19.206

Congratulations on the 2nd in your age. You really make running sound easy.

From Smooth on Tue, Aug 24, 2010 at 17:07:05 from 174.23.203.161

Nancy ~ Like I told the ladies I was running with at PC. (They were triathletes like you). The only thing I know how to do is RUN! I wish I knew how to swim or bike! But, I will learn how to swim just to save my life, may be before I turn 60. So I have 5 years to do the learning! :)

From Rhett on Tue, Aug 24, 2010 at 17:13:14 from 74.32.211.152

I haven't met him yet. I think I just missed him at Boston, but from what you have told me about him, I'd love to meet him. Dinner sounds great to me. Hopefully we will be able to do that.

Way to go Smooth!! You are awesome!!

Where is the Moonlight run? Is it this weekend in Mapleton?

From Smooth on Wed, Aug 25, 2010 at 00:59:43 from 174.23.203.161

Callie ~ Yes, technically it's on Friday Aug 27.

SSF ~ I ran under the full moon tonight around 10, a short 5K. It was heavenly!

From Kathie on Wed, Aug 25, 2010 at 12:39:11 from 63.248.105.188

Smooth Kimmy and I are not going down, well Kimmy is not I am still up in the air. I would love to see Doone BQ but I don't want to go alone. I have not even registered.

From Scott Wesemann on Wed, Aug 25, 2010 at 12:54:53 from 66.239.250.209

Congrats on the PCM! Your moonlight run sounded awesome!

From timp on Wed, Aug 25, 2010 at 20:03:51 from 68.165.8.60

sounds like a wonderful run --

From flatlander on Thu, Aug 26, 2010 at 13:39:27 from 198.207.244.102

Good job on Park City and best of luck in Pocatello. You are very busy.

From Smooth on Thu, Aug 26, 2010 at 15:28:11 from 174.23.203.161

Kathie ~ There's still time to register for the Half. Do it now though as the Marathon is already full. They're telling people to register for the Half and if people drop out of the Full then they can switch to Full.

You can ride up and back with us. We'd love your company. We are due for a Harem lunch, in this case, a sister-wife-dinner. We will leave Fri afternoon.

Scott ~ It was fun...but NOT nearly as fun, adventurous and awesome as your Quest for King.

timp ~ got to mix things up once in a while...cease the day err night.

flatlander ~ THANKS! But I am retired...from work that is...so lots of time for marathoning! :)
