Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Fall, Fun, Food, Friends, Full schedules---First Day of November.

John and Wendy picked me up at 6:50 am.  It had rained the night before,  the sky was cloudy and it was DARK.  I began to worry what this Day after Halloween 10 miler run with the FRBs would turn out.  I was so excited to finally meet Kelli, Britta, Marion, Maurine, Leslie, JonA, Scott, Harold.  And where was Teena?  Was she lost, did she fall?  O...goodness she was changing in her car 'cause she was too hot after running in the dark and waiting for us.  She kept telling us we were over-dressed.  Yep, she's right, it was the warm before the storm.  But what a beautiful morning it turned out to be.

The boys went ahead and left us in the dark.  Speedy Teena had miles to go so she took off w/ Britta.  Wendy and I found a new friend in Kelli.  What an awesome girl she is.  I love running with her.  She has perfect running forms and I don't see anywhere she could loose 5 lb. of post-5-babies-fat.  That girl has talents and was so kind to run SLOW with me.

At around mile 4, the boys were on their way back looking good.  It was quite a climb up that last mile.  Me, the ever directionally challenged girl, began to worry where Britta and Teena had gone to and we saw no sign of them.  Wendy had to stop to stretch her foot, I took 7 oz of HEED.  Kelli took no drinks at all.   I must be still in summer training mode...careful about dehydration...cramps.  Nah...silly me.

It was very gentleman of Scott to run back and "escorted" every runner in.  I had wanted to run 4 more miles but realized I only had enough time to find a suitable place to release my rescued turtle.  Kelli walked back w/ me to the river to find a place for Mr. turtle. Mission accomplished and finally one by one Scott brought back all the runners.

Then we had a nice tail-gate party.  Marion brought a "buffet" of hot chocolate with fancy cups.  Kelli brought these gynormous muffins.  I would have eaten all three kinds if they weren't so huge.  All good things come to an end, we had to bid good bye.   I hope we get to do this again.  THANKS everyone for a WONDERFUL morning run.

Smooth....sounds like a wonderful run.

That is what a I call a great way to start a new month.

From Smooth on Sun, Nov 02, 2008 at 13:11:30

You are so so so so so so cute!! I have never tried "Heed." How much do you like it?

Btw ... I noticed that no one came up looking for Britta or me ... so you must not have been too worried!! :)

How cool is that that I was able to see you two Saturdays in a row!! Sad that you are not running Snow Canyon, because that would have made three.

Anyway ... hope you are having a fantastic Sunday. I love you!!

OOOps!! I can't get over how I do that so frequently ... put the person's name that I am posting to in the field instead of my own. What is up with me? Sorry Smooth ... I love you!!

Kimmy-- Wish you would have joined us. Can't remember if you're doing any runner series. Are you running Painter's? Sure miss you!!!

Teena -- I should know better than to worry about you. Hey, if I come looking for you...I, me and myself would have been LOST. Remember I got lost running a 5K last week???!!! LOL.

The HEED was a freebie from one of the marathons. It has NO taste. It's supposed to have more electrolytes and carb than gatorade without the sweetness. I'm experimenting w/ different fluid replacement this training cycle.

Kathie, Cristy and I will be doing painters. We are also looking at doing the Lake to lake. Might be fun to try.

From Smooth on Sun, Nov 02, 2008 at 16:24:05

Cool, I will see you at Painter's. Lake to Lake looks like a fun relay especially doing it with your sisters!!!

Smooth...It sounds like you all have a lot of fun doing your runs. I wish we lived closer so we could come down there as early as you run. Maybe someday we could meet somewhere in the middle, maybe at the Legacy Parkway Trail. I drove by there the other day and there were tons of people running and cycling. It was quite a sight to see.
