Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

I am such an iDiot iDummy!!!  I spent hours trying to download the pics to my mac.  I accidentally imported the hundreds of pictures from the iPhoto library to the file.  In the process of moving those pics to the trash bin, I obiterated the entire file PLUS the whole iPhoto hardware program from my computer.  Just like that, POOF, GONE, not a trace!!!  I am so mad at myself and so sad.  Never do anything technicall when you're sleep deprived, I tell ya!!!  Sweet hubby was so kind and said "everyone makes mistakes!".  I lost those precious pics way back from Dec.  STINK!  STINK! STINK!

This week starts week 15 to SGM.  After reviewing the FIRST 3plus2 program, I decide to modify it a little.  Instead of run 3 days xtrain 2 days; I will run 4 days:  speed,  tempo,  hill and long.  Today I ran hill at an easy pace averaging 10:00 not wanting to anger the ITB.

This is a busy week.  I have 3 nieces performing piano recitals for their Piano Master grad. work at BYU, plus one of them is getting married on Sat. in Manti.  So I will have to run my long run on Friday.

More thoughts on WBR:  I think it can be a great training run.  The shorter distance leg can be run as speed workout, the medium distance as tempo and then of course there're plenty of hills.  All that in a 24-30 hour period is not bad if you can stand the driving and running on no sleep and sour tummy.  Nothing beats the crazy fun of being with a bunch of friends and family all cheering for each other.

See, you give it a few days and you LOVE IT!!!!! It is addicting!

You are awesome, have a fun busy week!

SO SORRY about the pictures. I am not so good at that stuff myself.

I'm so sorry you lost all your pics! There may be a way to recover them...I'm all about pimping out my hubby for technical work. PM me the details of what happened and I'll see what/if anything he can do!

Nice run today, and I'm glad the ITB is not getting angry. Enjoy your busy week, sounds like you've got a lot of fun ahead!

Sorry to hear about your pictures. I know there are ways to recover them - but am not familiar with Macs.

We all do something like this at one time or another. This is a good opportunity to mention backing up your computer - especially photos. My photos are saved: on my computer, DVD's/CDs, Photobucket and a backup drive - because I never want to lose them.

Smooth,

So sorry about the pics! That plain stinks.

Okay, regarding your FIRST program. Isn't that a lot of hard runs in one week? I would say run speed or hill, then tempo, the easy, then long.

But then again ... I really don't know!! You are the Mastress!! Is "mastress" a word? Hmmm ... not in my dictionary. Oh well ... sounds cool!! :)

So are you a master pianoist as well? It wouldn't suprise me at all if you were.

I have only met your "sweet hubby" in Boston, but I can only imagine how kind and supportive he is in everything you do.

So sorry about the pictures... I have a back up drive too just for that reason.

I am glad you are liking the WBR more by next year you will ready to run it again.

From Smooth on Wed, Jun 24, 2009 at 01:44:17 from 71.36.64.28

Kelli,

I still have mixed feeling about WBR. I like the running part, just not the waiting and NO sleep part.

Rachel,

My son who bought us the Mac will be home this Fri. He'll be here for a week; so perhaps he can help me fix it. I might just have to get another program. Hubby is not much better at these tech stuff either.

Maurine,

I'm going to back up the pics from my Dell. Good learning experience.

Teena,

I don't run all my runs as hard as you. The hill is just easy run to get the leg muscles used to hill again. In a month, I will alternate between speed and hill so they are not in the same week. i agree with you on that. No, I'm not the mastress. LLL LLL LLL

Rhett,

Unfortunately I'm not a pianist maestro. My children are very gifted in music and that's a great blessing. Their cousins have been wonderful accompanists for them in their performances, mostly strings.

Yes, Larry is a very kind man. He doesn't ever get mad at me. He is very supportive of me. When I do dumb things, he gently helps me to make it right. I am so very lucky to be married to such a great man.

Kathie,

I am so tech challenged, I don't even know to back up my files. I better learn how. As for WBR next year, I'll have to see. I might be going to Brazil to get my son or stay home to prepare for his homecoming. Will see.

I love your posts!! Even when you are cursing about losing all of those pics you still sound sweet!! Always so positive!! Nice job on your workout and your recovery from WBR!!! Sounds like you are as good as new!! Hey, did you get my PM about this weekend?? And Teena, heck yeah Mastress is a word, I love the word Mastress!! It makes perfect sense for Smooth :)

Smoothie, don't beat yourself up over the pictures. I've done that same thing before. At least you still have the memories.

Nice run. Glad you took it easy on the hills.

From Kelli on Wed, Jun 24, 2009 at 17:17:52 from 71.219.76.64

It is all worth it just for the fun!!!

I love Wasatch Back because I lose 5 pounds every time I run it. I can not eat and run, so I starve for 2 days, then I am so sick for a week I can hardly eat. Hmmm....does not make it sound like fun, huh? But I do love it for some reason!
