Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

I volunteered to be a server at our ward's YM/YW Etiquette Dinner from 6-10 last night.  We set complete table settings (bread plate, salad bowl, dinner plate, desert plate, glasses and all the flatwares) for 85 people.  We prepared individual salad, served drinks, the entree and desert, removed and washed the dishes (which we already washed once before setting).  I was exhausted and so glad I do not work in a restaurant.  This morning I woke up still tired from "waitressing".

Only had time to do a quick run because of morning meetings.  6.25 miles in 54:34.  Splits:  10:05, 9:03, 8:38, 8:34, 8:20, 8:09 (0.25 mi @ 8:18)  AP: 8:43

Will do core work and yoga tonight after helping hubby plant grass in the back garden.

You are so nice to waitress! That is actually one of my lifelong dreams, I know that is lame, but it is true. I want to be a waitress at Chilis or something.

Hope all of the meetings went well!!! Are you doing the half on Saturday?

From Smooth on Wed, Sep 02, 2009 at 15:47:18 from 71.36.65.90

Kelli ~ They can't pay me enough to waitress. I cannot carry more than two plates of food at a time. I cannot remember who ordered what. Washing 400 dishes by hands(the youth helped with the flatwares and glasses) was HARD!!!!

The meetings were too LONG! We had so much to cover. Fall is so busy. Yes, I am running the Spanish Fork 1/2 this Sat. then the Payson 10K on Mon. Hope to see you on Mon.

YOU WILL SEE ME!

Smooth -

I seriously have no idea how you do everything you do and keep a smile on your face!

I love you -- and am pained that I am likely not going to run Spanish Fork this year. We had such a GREAT time last year. STINK!!!!

From Mike Warren on Wed, Sep 02, 2009 at 16:14:41 from 207.50.149.221

Smooth, sounds like your doing great! Thanks for your continued comments. Sorry for my lack of them, just busy with work, but getting better. Keep up the training.

From MrsFIT on Wed, Sep 02, 2009 at 16:15:12 from 205.127.241.18

Way to "step up" and show the youth how it's done, they need good examples like you to show them what's appropriate.

P.S. Can I have more bread sticks?! :)

From Smooth on Wed, Sep 02, 2009 at 16:16:16 from 71.36.65.90

Teena,

I'm gonna miss you terribly. How are you feeling? Going to your blog now.

From Smooth on Wed, Sep 02, 2009 at 16:19:04 from 71.36.65.90

Mike,

Hey, so good to hear from you! Sure hope you're healing well and still aiming to run SG.

Kristi,

Funny you asked for more bread sticks. The boys were asking for seconds, while the girls hardly touched their food. I think they had fun learning manners and etiquette. I do not recommend doing it for that many people though. The church is not equipped to be a restaurant.

What a busy woman you are, Smoothie!!! Wow, I wouldn't even be able to get out for a run the next morning after doing all you did.

No TOU this year? I didn't see your name on the list of registrants. I'll be there with BeMo. We're going to run it nice and slow together. I think pron8r, canyon and Maynard are also going to be there.

From RAD on Wed, Sep 02, 2009 at 16:23:29 from 76.27.12.70

Smooth, you are an amazing person! Great run and wonderful service.

From Smooth on Wed, Sep 02, 2009 at 16:27:42 from 71.36.65.90

Dale,

I may be there to run Mary in. It's her first marathon. She didn't get in SGM; but trained so diligently this whole year. So may be I'll see you. I rode the bus up with BeMo, Canyon, Maynard, Huans32, Fly last year and saw Pron8r who always invites the Flyers to his home for pasta party. I really miss Pron8r this year; haven't seen him much on any of the Slam races.

Rachel,

THANKS! Are you still planning to do 20 at Provo Canyon on the 12th?

Smoothie, I've never seen Pron8r, period. He seems to elude everyone.

Well, I hope we see you at the finish line at TOU.

From Bec on Wed, Sep 02, 2009 at 18:58:31 from 67.177.35.60

Smooth, I bet you were a great server. Kelli, you should try out being a server, I think you would really like it. Well, at least for a few minutes. You would just fall in love with refilling a diet coke 20 times for some random person at a table!

From allie on Wed, Sep 02, 2009 at 21:19:19 from 67.177.43.41

Smooth..once again, I bow to your busy-ness! You're amazing!!!

From RAD on Wed, Sep 02, 2009 at 23:22:44 from 76.27.12.70

What? You're coming to TOU???!!?? You may have to drag me in :) I'll be so excited to see you!!! Okay, I think I got mixed up, because I thought your run was this weekend, silly, because I know you're doing SF 1/2. I do want to hit about 12-15 the 12th, it'll be my last before TOU. LMK, I'd be happy to join you ANYTIME!!!

From DonGardinero on Thu, Sep 03, 2009 at 03:57:55 from 75.162.165.69

Smoothie, I may be running in Provo Canyon on the 12th with Julie Ann and Alisa and quite possibly, Amy. Maybe we'll see you there.

From Smooth on Thu, Sep 03, 2009 at 13:10:19 from 71.32.233.94

allie ~ THANKS! I don't work nearly half as hard as you. Seriously, don't know how you juggle work, commute, school and train for fast marathons. You DA WOMAN!

Kathie ~ THANKS! I tend to run faster when I'm pressing for time. May be I should pretend I have a meeting to get to at race time.

Marc ~ Thanks! Just glad that I don't have a full time job. :)

Rachel ~ Going up to TOU is still in the planning stage. Hubby won't let me drive myself up. So, if Wendy is going; then I'll bump a ride.

On the 12th, we'll probably meet at Will's Pit Stop around 6 am and run 10 up and back down for 20 on the Provo Canyon. I think Curt has a marathon/20miler that day too. So, it's gonna be crowded. But I'd love to run some with you.

Dale ~ That's exciting that BeMo and AlisaK are running there with you on the same day. I sure hope to see you guys.
