Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

I was up cleaning the stove,  mopping the floor, polishing the piano and the stainless steel appliances... 'till 1am. !!!!!   That was like 14 hours of cleaning house!  What is WRONG with me?  Once I started something, I couldn't stop!!!  I was bone tired when I went to bed.

Got up at 6:30 am.  Put the french toast creme boule in the oven, set the tables and realized I had not finalized my long run plan with my SSF!!!  Whew!  I was SOOOO HAPPY she's still planning to run with me.

After the last sister left the house at 11:15am  I scrambled around and hurried to get to Teena's half hour later than planned.   So Glad she had some gu and gatorade for me.  This would be the longest run for both of us since our last marathons.

The miles just flew by.   It's a good thing Teena kept track of miles and reminded us to drink and take gu; I was in sevem heavens chatting away, totally oblivious to distance or pace.  We took our Gu at mile 10 and I needed to use the bathroom but it was locked.  We ran across this busy hwy with icky icy sidewalks to get to Maverick...scary!

Running home was awesome, we felt great and picked up the pace a bit.  We got to the infamous puke hill.  I thought: no sweat, I can run that.  Yah right, Teena CAN!!!  She was floating up that thing like she had wings and whisked past me while I pretend to run (just so the motorist wouldn't think I was a wimp!)   Seriously, heartbreak hills will be piece of cake for her.  Puke Hill is deceptive, just as you think you reach the top, it keeps going up.  But then we were rewarded with the down hill.

We cruised home on the last mile.   I totally fell into Teena's "trap" of running a little more to bring down the AP AFTER we reached her house.  It felt AWESOME!  I forgot to restart the Garmin after waiting to cross the street and got too excited about Puke Hill so my mileage and pace were off.  According to Teena's we ran 18.15 and AP in the high 9's.

THANKS SSF!!!  I had the most fun running with you.  This is the highest mileage week EVER for me!  You made it that much more SPECIAL!!!  LOVE YOU!!!  Please tell Ry THANKS for letting me steal you on his b'day and that I think he is AWESOME!!!  Hope you're having a WONDERFUL birthday date!!! :) :) :)

I'm sure the 18 miler was a piece of cake after 14 hours of cleaning. What a great week of running. How is your body handling the mileage?

From Smooth on Sat, Jan 09, 2010 at 21:11:29 from 174.23.217.47

Julie ~ This puke hill is by Winchester (I think) in West Jordan, it's about .25 mile long and quite a climb. I know the one you're referring to. I call that one Killer Dip. I live 0.8 mile west of that hill. I wish it wasn't on such a busy road, I'd love to run that once a week.

From Smooth on Sat, Jan 09, 2010 at 21:20:40 from 174.23.217.47

Marion ~ The only thing lacking on today's run was the sunshine!

Andy ~ You're SO RIGHT! Even my hubby said the same thing. I'm sooo OCD!

I definitely feel the fatigue with the mileage. I feel the stiffness mostly when I wake up in the morning. I think I need more sleep. The true test will come on Monday morning when the schedule calls for an LT run w/ 5 mi @ 15k-Half race pace. We'll see! I might have to switch it around if the body protests.

AWESOME MILES!!! What a fabulous running week you have had, and you have been so busy, too!!! Glad you two had a great run. I am also glad i did not have to run PUKE hill, YUCK!

From Maynard on Sat, Jan 09, 2010 at 22:40:24 from 71.213.5.207

Smooth! You and Teena rocked it today! 18 miles--awesome!!

From Smooth on Sat, Jan 09, 2010 at 22:48:05 from 174.23.217.47

Kelli ~ You would fly up Puke Hill. As a matter of fact, Teena and I were talking about what a Queen of hills you are. I LOVE to watch you run uphill! We MISS you today! But you're such a great friend to run with Emily!

Brad ~ Teena made the 18 go by fast! Hope your leg is getting better and you're back to ramping it up in no time.

From Kelli on Sat, Jan 09, 2010 at 22:51:15 from 71.219.89.82

So, I guess we all need to get together and race up PUKE hill?!? First one to the top get a cookie?

From Smooth on Sat, Jan 09, 2010 at 22:53:31 from 174.23.217.47

NO, bad idea (for me)! I wouldn't stand a chance even for a little cookie crumb.

But you and Teena can duel it out! I will even BUY the cookies! :)

From Kelli on Sat, Jan 09, 2010 at 23:00:24 from 71.219.89.82

I am in, if we can strap a weighted backpack on Teena first!

From Smooth on Sat, Jan 09, 2010 at 23:04:07 from 174.23.217.47

From Smooth on Sat, Jan 09, 2010 at 23:13:38 from 174.23.217.47

Whatever! I'd rather be a football player than a penquine, that's what I'm like running w/ you girls! :)

From Teena Marie on Sat, Jan 09, 2010 at 23:17:40 from 174.52.45.85

NO STINKIN' WAY I am racing Kelli up Puke Hill!!! I am not sure my ego can handle such a loss!!! And I am not kidding ... Kelli ... you are the QUEEN of hills!!!

SSF -- THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! As I told you before, that was the most fun I have ever had on an 18-miler. I would do it again in a heartbeat!!! We need to make this a monthy run ... Kelli: You in???

Love you so much, Smooth. You truly are my SSF. Hope you are having a great evening.

From Smooth on Sat, Jan 09, 2010 at 23:22:28 from 174.23.217.47

SSF! How was your date? Prez and I are watching Men on Fire, Denzel is HOT in this movie...kinda violent though! He's going after the guys who kidnapped the little girl he was body guard to.

From Teena Marie on Sun, Jan 10, 2010 at 00:01:29 from 174.52.45.85

You are watching it on TV, huh?

I just looked it up and it is on tonight and tomorrow night on FX. I hope we have that channel so that I can DVR it. I have never seen it and you know that is my boy (next to Ry, of course)!!!!

We went and saw Avatar. I was pleasantly surprised. It was a GREAT movie!!! :)

From Smooth on Sun, Jan 10, 2010 at 00:06:50 from 174.23.217.47

I think you will like it. I sorta watch it. Prez can watch TV and prepare his Sunday stuff at the same time. I can't multi task like him. Anyway "your boy" is a hero in this one!

I'm glad you were pleasantly surprised w/ Avatar! I'll have to make sure Jeff finds a date to see it! :)

From Kelli on Sun, Jan 10, 2010 at 19:23:49 from 71.219.89.82

Avatar was cool, but stupid!! Great graphics, a good story line that was not well pulled off. I hated the narrating, it was like dances with wolves for aliens!!! But, again, the graphics were very cool!!!!

Teena, I am willing to bet more than a cookie you could beat me up the hill.

From Mack on Sun, Jan 10, 2010 at 20:35:11 from 71.111.182.118

Rachel ~ I've missed running with your company! I would have walked up Puke Hill if weren't for the passing motorists. I was just pretending to run! :)

Dale ~ Thanks! It's always fun being with Teena!

allie ~ Sure was a cleaning frenzy! Sad thing is it doesn't stay clean for very long.

Kelli ~ I just love your spunk! :)

Mack ~ That's super nice of you to say that! THANKS! Can't wait to meet you at Painter's. :)

Marc ~ What are you talking about? You're Mr. Cowtown pacer Man! :) Can't wait to see you at Boston!

Emily ~ I'm SO GLAD you had a great run with Kelli! Can't wait to meet you!

Bec ~ The boys actually slept in! Prez. helped me big time with the high stuff that I couldn't reach. But he didn't stay up though!

Carolyn ~ I detest house cleaning! Only do it when I have company! :)

Scott ~ No nap, sat thru 5 hours of church though!

vinh ~ Boston is AWESOME! You'll love it!

TBarlow ~ You can access the JRP from many locations. The one we got on was on 72nd South (the south side) and about a mile east of 1300 West, I think.

Rhett ~ Yep, we'll have so much fun at Boston!
