Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Karen ran 11 yesterday to Alpine, just 2 days after she ran a 3 min PR at SG Half!!!  WOW!!!  She has no soreness!  This morning she ran with me for 7.5 and I was the SLOW one (my legs are still very sore especially the calves).  She is thinking about signing up for UVM, it will be her first marathon.  A light snow started mid-run, so peaceful and beautiful!

Went to lunch w/ Diane, Holly, Cheri, Karen for Wendy's belated 50th birthday at Zupas.  Afterwards, Wendy came over to cut quilt squares while I did some core exercises.

Allie ~ thank heavens for friends! My day would have been one sad sore one! :)

I like your new picture. It amazes me that even with sore legs you can run 7.5 miles and make it sound so easy.

I can't believe you're running. Does this mean your knee is all better?

I wish we could have spent more time chatting after the race.

From Smooth on Tue, Jan 25, 2011 at 22:36:36 from 67.2.95.228

Nancy ~ Having someone to run w/ takes the pain off my mind. I think NOT running is more *painful* mentally than running WITH pain. Doesn't make sense, does it! I know I'm addicted to running!

Dale ~ My knee is not any better nor any worse. I know I should do some xtraining...but it's more fun running w/ a friend than going to a gym.

I wish we could've chat more after the race. Hubby is always anxious to leave. We barely made the late check-out. We ate our lunch while driving home! Well, there's always next time! :)

Wow, I'm impressed with Karen too! My legs are still in recovery too. I'm a little nervous for a long Saturday run. I'm glad you got a wonderful day out with friends - always buoys the spirit!

From Smooth on Thu, Jan 27, 2011 at 22:52:14 from 67.2.98.127

Kathie ~ I am hoping I can run on Sat. I don't know where and definitely not a 20 miler.

If the legs feel better I want to do the 12 weeks to Boston program; so it will be 13 - 15 mi w/ 8 mi@ mp.

Where are you running your first 20 miler?

From Kathie on Fri, Jan 28, 2011 at 09:06:26 from 63.248.105.188

I think I will just do it around my house if Can't find a group.
