Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

My quads were/are not recovered from last week's downhill Half and the hilly runs during the week.  So when Kathie invited me to join her and Kimmy to run with them on the flat JRP, I was overjoy!!! :)

Picked up Kelly and JonA at 4:30 to meet Kathie and Kimmy for our 5am run.  SO HAPPY and THANKFUL for the invite and GREAT company or I would've struggled/suffered miserably with a solo run in the heat!  THANK YOU K, K, K and J!!!! :) :) :) :)  The miles just flew by and were done before it got hot!  :)

We ran southward out and back for 6 miles, then northward hoping for 10-11 more miles. The north portion of the trail was flooded with very stinky swampy water at about 3.5 mi out; so turned around and ran the south portion again for another 3 miles.  So grateful for the water/gu provided by WRC at Winchester.  Was cool to run into Teena, JohnnyV and JohnD who were so very SPEEDY!!! :)

So glad that you had such wonderful company. You girls (and Jon) were so cute. I have to admit that I felt a tad bit jealous. :)

I love you.

SSF ~ Whatever!!!! You know you could join us ANY time if you wanted to! :)

I was just thinking how fun it was last year that we had a fun chump run then breakfast at your ward with your cute family afterward. I do treasure those memories. Sadly, we are not having much SSF time anymore!

But I am glad you had so much fun boating and wakeboarding! You deserve a break from studying! :)

I love you too! :)

Wow your garmin thing is so cool! I need to figure that out! Your runs always amaze me! I can't wait to see you!

From Smooth on Sun, Jul 03, 2011 at 00:37:20 from 67.2.82.242

Leslie ~ It's real easy. You register on connect.garmin.com while your Garmin is plugged into the computer. It will have a page to walk you through how to download your workouts. With all the trails you run, yours will be spectacular! :)

Hope to see you and Harold, can't wait! :)

Good run, glad you could drive up there and do it with your friends. Solo in the heat is no fun, that's for sure.

From RAD on Sun, Jul 03, 2011 at 11:57:34 from 98.202.17.113

Oh I'm SO glad you had some good company for the run! Sounds like a perfect morning...well, not the getting up at 4AM part or having to smell stinky swamp water, but all the rest of it :)

From Smooth on Sun, Jul 03, 2011 at 12:07:35 from 67.2.82.242

flat ~ I seriously don't know how you train thru mega miles in the Texas heat! You're my hero!

RAD ~ It was a good morning! I thought about you enjoying your morning with your sister, that's the best way to spend a hot July day with the girls! :)

about the stinky swampy flood, I wish someone has warned us about that! If I'd known we would have run the Lehi JRP instead, but the "aid station" provided by WRC made up for it, that and the WONDERFUL company! :)

LMK what your plans are for tomorrow!

SSF~

I was jealous that you all looked like you were having such a wonderful time. Since school started I feel like I am always in such a hurry (because I am). Don't get me wrong, I love PT school, but things are always so hectic. Even boating, although I had a ton of fun, in the back of my mind I was feeling guilty for not studying and so was going through nerve innervations and recent dissections. Did you know that there is as much anatomy above the neck as there is below it? Crazy.

Anyway ... it's a crazy thing. When I study all of the time I feel guilty for not spending enough time with family and loved ones. When I spend a lot of time with family and loved ones I feel guilty for neglecting school, and so forth. Just trying to figure out the balance thing.

You all really did look super cute and super happy. Like you were having a party! :) :) :)

From Smooth on Sun, Jul 03, 2011 at 12:31:01 from 67.2.82.242

SSF ~ I hear ya on the craziness of balancing and juggling the many wonderful things in your life right now! You are always super good at multi-tasking, putting 100% in everything you do with passion and gusto! It is only human to have those guilt feelings! I guess the best thing is to move forward the best way you know how with what you're given!

I can see how you totally fall in love with school! It fills the desire to learn. I ask David about his TA experience in the cadaver lab! I find it fascinating while Larry cringes! :)

Enjoy the moment Teena! There is a season for everything! I love you for who you are and admire the things you accomplish! The next two plus years will go by so fast! I have a lot going on with my life right now and in the near future that I am very excited for! Am feeling anxious that we can't share our experiences together but that is OK! Love you!

From Teena Marie on Sun, Jul 03, 2011 at 12:45:23 from 67.2.95.170

SSF, you are the best. You understand me in a way that I appreciate beyond words (and always give me the best pep talks). I figure as soon as you and Prez get home from your mission (and I am done with school) that we will have the means and time to make a whole lot of wonderful memories. At least that is what I am banking on. Likely, we will always be busy ... but hopefully not as busy as these next few years. :)

How are your legs?

From Teena Marie on Sun, Jul 03, 2011 at 12:47:02 from 67.2.95.170

AND ... I have thought on many occasions (as you know) that you would ** LOVE ** PT school. AND ... you would thrive in the program. Stink ... we should have planned better!!!! :) :) :)
