Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Ran with Stacey, a friend of AmberG.  She's training for SGM.  Her next race is Hobble Creek!  I met her for the first time this morning when she came to my house at 6am.  So nice to have someone to run with.  She needed to run 15 whereas my schedule says to run 10.  Since I didn't run yesterday, I figured I may be able to do at least 13.

We ran up to Alpine for 12 then add 3 miles on the bench around my block.  Perfect run in perfect temp with just the right hills.  We chatted away and the miles just flew by.  On the return trip with the the small uphills, I challenged her to run it strong, kinda fartleked it :).  On the last 5 miles I encouraged her to run it at marathon pace.  I took off on the last mile at a 10K pace...that was mean of me...but she seemed okay with that...we'll see if she wants to run with me again!  She's a great runner, will do awesome at SGM.

15 miles in 2:21:54.  AP: 9:27.  Splits: 9:56, 10:12, 10:12, 9:22, 9:54, 10:00, 10:17, 9:15, 9:18, 9:39, 8:54, 8:39, 9:00, 9:02, 8:08.

Busy day with Lehi Roundup parade and niece's wedding.

Were you running toward the round-about in Alpine on Saturday with a person on a bike?

I gave whoever it was a big arm pump (they had just finished a big hill), but I think she thought I was making an obscene gesture. I was on my bike.

From Smooth on Tue, Jun 29, 2010 at 01:38:20 from 68.105.208.132

flatlander ~ Thanks! Stacey is a young lady who ran 3:20 marathons, returning to marathoning after 3rd baby...she helped me just as much.

Toby ~ There was a girl on the bike who said hello to us! were you riding with another cyclist? We didn't run thru the round-about. we ran up via the Suncrest Road. We also drank from the fountain of youth. there were lots of people on the bikes on Sat in Alpine. I would love to have seen you! Just found out Kelli had a get together last Sat. But I wasn't invited...darn!
