Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

6.5 solo run.  MCT west to 1600 W bathroom/fountain for drink, turned back east to 1200 E drinking fountain where I met and visited with someone who just had back surgery and walking with his dog.  Nice chat.

Thoughts while running ~

1) Focus on running form: cadence and driving elbows back!

2) My running has come full circle.  When I started running in 2005, my goals then was to loose weight and become healthy so I could take care of my hubby whose life was spared after emergency MVR and AVR and post-op complication of cardiac tempanade in 2004.  Running has given me so much more than better health.  Over the years, I've met many wonderful friends in the running community who have blessed and enriched my life.  Last year I put running on hold to serve a mission with my hubby in what I thought would be 3 years.  As things turned out, exactly 10 years later, hubby again had another near-death medical crisis which ended our mission abruptly.  Now my return to running takes on similar goals as in 2005: to become physically, emotionally healthy so that I can help my hubby regain better health physically, emotionally and spiritually.  I don't know what lies ahead; but I do know each day, each run is a gift...I gratefully treasure!!!! :)

3) I have the BEST friends and neighbors, and MOST wonderful family...I am the luckiest woman!!! :) :) :)

Your running also improves the lives of those who have the privilege of running with you. We are all lucky to have you!

I love how running gives us time to ponder life. I am one of many who's life has been touched by your running. Keep it up.

I've been working on my backwards elbow drive lately as well. I really feel it is helping my running posture and I feel stronger for longer.

I'm glad you are able to run. I used to love running as much as you but now I only like it because it is so hard. I do love biking though because it is easier. I hope your hubby is better soon.

Great run!!!

And ... I'm with Rhett! Most of my best thinking and communication with my spirit is done while running.
