Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

1st interval @ 8:08, more like LT pace.  Totally drenched by a heavy rain/hail storm.

RI 1 mi @ 9:16.  Tried to dodge floated storm drains.  The rain is blinding.

2nd interval @ 7:32.  Running like a mad woman w/ stinging eyes.  So FUN!

RI  0.5 mi in 4:52 (9:10).  Going east away from the rain clouds.

3rd interval @ 7:28.  Really pushed the pace.  Felt hard and forced.

RI 0.5 mi in 4:17 (8:59).  Soggy feet.

You are very tough and dedicated.

Sounds like a nice run Smooth (except for the rain). Looks like you're ready to fly at SGM.

How can you make running in the rain sound fun? You are the best!

Awesome run, SSF!!! :)

I am going to soak in the epsom salt tomorrow after I have Matt work on me. I am feeling tight, but nothing too serious.

That rain was insane!!!!

I miss you so much.

Gotta run ... have a RS appointment.

Love you.

You make me feel pretty good that I got up early and got my run in before the rain and wind came in!!!

From Mike Warren on Thu, Sep 23, 2010 at 09:23:41 from 74.211.9.222

Great job Smooth! Well, you have a huge base going into STG. Hope your feeling nice and healthy. I see a big time PR coming your way!!

From Smooth on Thu, Sep 23, 2010 at 13:15:31 from 67.41.235.104

Andy ~ Thanks! Not nearly half as tough and dedicated as you! :)

Cal ~ I love running in light rain...just not downpour and hail!

Kathie ~ Runners are water-proof. Plus I don't wear ipod! Running in calm rain is fun and soothing!

SSF ~ You're running awesome! Glad you have Matt to make everything hurt so good. Enjoy the pain and epson soak. Wish I could hire you! L & M U.

Julie ~ Thanks! It never cease to amaze me how awesome you are with your busy family and long shifts and battling w/ ailments that you can still bust out such speedy and tough runs!

Paul ~ Not sure I'm 100% recovered. But hopefully with 8+ days the little nigglings will be gone. PR might be a wishful thinking for me this time.

Slick ~ Yah, I was up all night staring at the moonlit sky. Got a total of 2.5 hrs sleep so didn't get out until 9am but it was sunny when I left the house. Who'd know we would have multiple burst of hail and torrential rain!

Mike ~ THANK YOU! Hope you're right! I'm having lotsa doubts about a PR this year! You, on the other hand, have had a banner year. I am certain a sure PR is coming YOUR way! Can't wait to *see* you ROCK STG!
